The Democratic 2020 hopefuls have started releasing their tax returns in the name of transparency (how quaint!), and among other information about their finances, it’s giving us an opportunity to learn a bit about their charitable giving habits—which in some cases are frankly a bit stingy.

Credit to the Washington Post for scouring the candidates’ returns for this info, which they published on Tuesday. First, here’s how much of their total income candidates gave away, from most generous to least. All numbers are for last year, unless otherwise noted...."

Beto gave $1,116 on 370,000 of income.

They are always happy to help the poor as long as it is with other people's money.

There have been studies and Republicans on average give more at every income level than Democrats.

Democrat - Talk about caring and helping, pose for holy pictures at an event, donate ZERO from your OWN income.

That's government's job.....

In Beto's defense, its not always about his own money. Remember, he is sacrificing time away from his "kiddos" in order to become your overlord. That has to account for something.

I know but I’ve linked it before. And they won’t read it

I was involved in commercial banking for most of my career and saw the tax returns of a lot of very well off folks. When looking at a loan request one of the first things I would do is flip to Sch. A and see how much was on the charitable giving line and look at who it went to. More often than not, charitable giving is a strong indication of character. It wasn't an ultimate determining factor, but I can't recall every having to deal with any fraud or misleading statements from people who gave generously and didn't brag about it.

It never ceases to amaze that the folks that tell me I should be involuntarily giving more of my money to fund their causes are the very folks that have little history of voluntarily giving their money to those same causes.

Can anyone blame DJT for not releasing his tax returns? You know there is some unsavory or unflattering info in those docs, why would you willingly subject yourself to the scrutiny all these dem candidates are putting themselves through.

Much easier to deal with butt hurt feelings for not releasing than dealing with any fallout that might come from releasing them.
