so, one of the fans made the story up about Brooks transferring? and George Voegel went for it? so george could be fake news? criminy sakes.

No, sometimes people are emotional and just need to sort things out after a big change.

This was my feeling from the beginning. Felt the same way about former players venting because they wanted to see NVE at least get an interview.

Fake News? Is that a real thing?

No problem with people transferring out but I would assume you at least hear the new coach out, you know, meet him, talk to him, as questions and THEN make a decision. At least this is how I hope it went down. Otherwise, that really flawed judgement and bad decision making on display.

I don't believe for a second that Brannen showed any disrespect to Brooks or his "handlers." The tweet from his guardian sounded like that of a spoiled child. I hope he comes to his senses and hears Brannen out, but if not, next man in.

He would have to sit out a year unless he is going to go down to the lower levels, which likely will hurt his NBA chances. Sounds like the family is bitter that Coach Brannen gave them their space when the family was dealing with a funeral. Hopefully this will work itself out and Nas has the chance to flourish next season.

Unless it was explained later- what funeral?
What was said on Twitter by handler?

Geez - if everyone stays we have a nice team. I hope JC stays or we are quickly looking at a down year.

Chad mentioned on the BCJ podcast that Jarron was at the workout today and the press conference as well and took both as a good sign that he’s still invested and hasn’t disconnected from the program. He also mentioned Treyvon Scott, the vocal leader, is vouching for Brannen and all in based on his past relationship with Brannen who recruited him out of HS for Bama. He thought that also was a good sign and felt things were moving in the right direction in terms of Brooks. He also had Coach Brannen on...definitely worth a listen IMO.
Great!

If bulldog was still here, he could weigh in on this.

Bulldog is probably in Brannen's ear right now telling him he can get him to stay.

Brannen may need a translator.

at least terry nelson didn't make himself look like a clown. love me some terry nelson. he's waay more qualified then they are from a coaching standpoint, imo. maybe he doesn't want to coach, but i'd be fine with hearing him out i think. as an assistant

i would have been fine with nick but the reservations would have been massive

i have moved on from nevada

Alex Meacham went to the practice that Coach Brannen held and he said that Brooks was there.

Per Justin Williams Twitter:
NEWS: Cincinnati’s Nysier Brooks is entering the transfer portal, a source told @TheAthleticCIN | @TheAthleticCBB.

He’s weighing his options & could choose to stay at UC. The 6-foot-11 center will be a senior next season. Not available for a grad transfer. #Bearcats

It would be horrible if he wound up at Temple.

RE: Brooks
There used to be a rule whereby schools could prohibit a player from transferring in conference. Not sure if it was a conference or ncaa caveat, but my guess would be if he goes back to Philly it would be part of an appeal to be eligible next year and not sit out a year. Either way, uprooting from the players you've been used to playing with for an entire new situation for just one year is not a good % play. However, he should do what's best for him.

Guess we don't know much more about this today than we did when the speculation started at the beginning of the week. Brooks may just need some TLC from the new coach. I'm wondering if Brooks is back on campus and if a face-to-face meeting has occurred yet with Brannen?
