I remember when we were in first place. It felt like 3 weeks ago...

Wonder if UTA's AD is getting ready to fire his head coach.

Well, Coach Thomas does not have as good a winning record as the former basketball coach that AD Baker fired. However, the team is doing well at this point. We beat TCU 6-3 tonight (Tuesday, April 16th), and also have recent wins against DBU and Baylor. We're 25-13 overall and 11-4 in conference, riding atop the western division standings. But it's early - anything can happen, and usually does.

the mavs have done well lately but being in an area of tremendous high school talent to recruit from and having good facilities, the program should be pretty good every season and they havent been. They need to play like this all the time and give TCU more of a run for their money in the area.

Even when we beat TCU, the local papers don't mention the score. (It was 6-3.) I wish we had an Arlington-based newspaper or other media to trumpet our wins over Baylor, DBU and TCU. Even our pathetic student paper seems uninterested. The Dallas News covers SMU, BigXII, Texas, OU, TAMU and even UNT, but not UTA, except when there is a new rumor about football. The Startlegram covers TCU, BigXII, Texas, OU, Texas Wesleyan and national news, but not UTA. Perhaps when/if we get football, we'll get as much ink as UNT or TWU.

I have traded letters and emails over the many years of minimal coverage by the fort worth startlegram. their reply has always been that the school doesnt get the story to them. certainly the story a week ago that tcu scored a walk-off over the mavs in the bottom of the 9th was in there. it is sometimes difficult following uta sports . I often have to go to our opponent's website to follow an event of ours live after finding no workable link on our own website. newspapers all over the country are failing tho as the younger generation prefers to get their news and sadly "facts" about things from the nimnos of social media.

That's a fact, Jack. Yesterday, while trying to follow the Mav/Cajun game, I gave up on trying to get updates on the Mav site (cause I couldn't), and went to the UL site where I could get score updates in real time.
. . . and the Cajuns let me down . . . .

See you Mavs down the road . . . 07-coffee3

Feels weird pulling for Louisiana to beat UTA with UTA on top of the standings (and then UTA sweeping UL in the end).

Louisiana having a really tough year this year. And Coastal starting to follow suit. Odd year.

Actually, it is very easy to get a blow-by-blow game time description. Go to utamavs.com, Sports, Baseball, Schedule, scroll down to the current game, and click on "Live Stats." Additionally, sometimes there are other options advertised, like next Tuesday at 6:35pm, you can watch UTA play TAMU on the SEC network. Note also: All of the remaining UTA games are going to be on TV or on the subscription based Sidearm Sports Network.

often when I go to that site the message I get is that the event has not started yet or I never even get past the first screen. just stays in limbo. when I have trouble there, it is often only a cpl. clicks to get on the opponent's site and follow the game there. I would say that with Game Tracker, that would happen about half the time. maybe they didnt like my pc

I can't get to the live stats from our athletics page for road games to load, either. Probably not just a web problem on your end.

UTA would get more coverage, but the S-T is correct.

Their SID doesn't even do game notes prior to the series. The guys they have appear to be part timers since they look so young. And, I'm sure they're not busting their asses to get coverage for their team.

Too bad. The team is good.

I'd feel bad for them, but our SID is just as bad on the baseball side. Another situation where we hired cheap, and hired someone without any knowledge of baseball rules or jargon.

It's a problem with any school with a small budget for Olympic sports. You either hire part time, or hire the cheapest full time person you can get.
