The 850 year old cathedral was also filled with very valuable art work when the blaze started.

Salvage efforts to save some of the art work are underway.

The cathedral was in the middle of a major renovation project when the fire began.

P.S. It looks like they were successful in rescuing the art work inside the cathedral.

Perhaps the DIY Network could rebuild the cathedral once it completes the renovation of the Brady Bunch House.

You can’t restore or replace medieval stained glass. Modern stained glass doesn’t compare. I fear that at least one of the rose windows is lost and maybe all three. That’s the biggest problem but I’m sure there will be many others. I hope the facades are intact. Certainly, the front facade, which has the most carvings, appears intact.

I was heart sick watching that yesterday. I was glad to hear that it wasn’t terrorism. The fact it happened is heart wrenching. The idea that someone could have set it on purpose would be devastating.
