The offense sucked. But accuracy is accuracy. He made the same mistakes in the scrimmage, missing open receivers downfield. He just has zero touch on that pass. I’d like him to throw more posts and slants. I think he’s better at those.

The offense was uber productive every year up until the point Childers became the QB.

Woof....Graham was...dare I say it....worse

Childers and Graham are almost the same guy. Graham just seemed so awful relative to the qbs who came before him. But given the same amount of attempts, Childers and Graham produce identical numbers.

MC: 3,849 yds, 5.8 y/a, 31 td, 15 int, 118 rating. 1,004 rush yds, 3.0 y/a
RG: 3,871 yds, 5.8 y/a, 40 td, 24 int, 114 rating. 1,094 rush yds, 3.2 y/a

I don't think its any mistake they are the same guy.

Great great info. See, what one can conclude for that is that tossing Graham aside was NOT for a better QB. He was tossed aside for the SAME QB statistically. That, IMHO, is not good. More importantly, it tells us that the system is producing those numbers-- or even better said, the way that staff implemented that system.

Anyone who has it seared into the brain that if you make a mistake, you could be gone-- that one interception can get you benched permanently, is going to do everything to not throw that interception. You know how you can make sure you don't throw an interception? Don't throw the ball. Or only throw if the receiver is wide open (and in that case you are so nervous you miss him). Of course, to be fair, the receivers the last couple of years have not helped a great deal.

Anyway--- ancient history now. I expect QB's that make mistakes! And I welcome the new era. Some INT's will happen. It comes with the territory. So what? Some are just bad bad throws, some are bad coaching calls given the situation. The bad calls that result in a pick 6, those I will continue to complain about, if they happen. I hope they do not.

Anyway, new era, baby!!!

RE: Childers not shying away from competition
I would like to see what Childers can do in the new offense. He was never allowed/called on to make certain throws. With practice and maturity, he might be able to make those throws if allowed by new staff. That way, we could determine was it lack of talent or bad coaching.scheme?
