Should've opened pocket books and went after NBA guy. Marc Jackson, slick Rick, Jeff van gundy, Kenny smith, NVE was my top targets. This move was to keep current roster intact. Doubt we make tourny unless he pull couple home run recruits

Well I was on the Pitino band wagon as well.

But what's done is done. I'm ready to give this guy a chance.

Why would it keep the roster intact? None of them know him personally.

Sounds like Brannen's style is a lot more fun than Mick's. Our players might actually be glad to have a chance to air things out a bit.

I believe Cronin was the shortest coach in the AAC and we now have the tallest coach in the AAC. Quite the jump in height.

He knows them all personally. We played at their gym and he only 10min away. If he doesn't know our players he lazy as hell

Yeah I think nobody leaves now. He brings run and gun style we should be good. I doubted we made tourny with Mick. If he don't get at least two studs our streak over

Come on go back to the X board. They may be looking for a coach if all their remaining guys leave for the Nba this year.

Solid hire. His credentials for a local guy are too good not to give him a chance. Bohn would have looked like an idiot if someone else comes in and takes him in the next couple years and he knocks it out of the park. Continuity is important, and he's likely a guy who will focus on the program instead of another job. I do like his style of play, and that he's a former player. Welcome aboard coach B. Did find it nice that evidently Fickell was in the room for the announcement. That's great to see.

How tall is Brannen? Knew he was kinda tall but didn’t expect he was taller than Penny.

Safe hire. Easy hire. Bohn didn't have to leave his house.

But please let's all slow down on this 'exciting offense' he will be running. Any team with a little talent will look like they are the 2nd coming of offense when you are playing UIC, Oakland, and IUPUI just to name a few. And the Norse lost to all three of those teams during the year.

Against upper mid-major talent, NKU scored just 55 against UCF, 59 vs Manhattan, and of course 65 against UC.

They did score 102 against Wilmington and 99 vs Wabash. GO BRANNEN!

Considering what was available - he will do. I will be there for his first game, just like Ed Badger, Tony Yates, Bob Huggins, Andy Kennedy, and Mick Cronin. And I also was at each of their last games. I hope for Mr. Brannen that game will be many years away.

This move wasn't about keeping the roster intact. Most of our guys have no reason to leave regardless of the coach. It was about getting the best coach available, Brannen happened to be that guy. I'm sure he has at least an acquaintance with all our guys, but not sure how well he knows them.

Looks like he played a 5 out offense at NKU, but that is fairly typical for small schools (very hard to get a talented center at a smaller school). Hopefully he can fit Brooks and Nsoseme into the scheme. I imagine he can given their ability to move and run in a pressing system.

Jaevin Cumberland is an obvious grad transfer target. We have his cousin and a coach who formerly was in the same conference. We are still in excellent shape to make the tournament as a high seed unless we have a lot of unexpected transfers.

One of my targets would've got rid of at least 2-4 guys. Solid hire but doubt we see uptivck in recruitment

Apparently Fickel was a part of the process to hire Brennan. That seems a bit strange, but I love it and it shows he is committed to Cincinnati. Hopefully we can give Fickel everything he’s looking for so we can keep him here a long time. He seems to love it and this is where he can recruit so it’s a good fit. My only concern is being a G5 program currently.

As for Brennan, I saw Chad mention the contract is for 6 years at 1.5m per year with incentives for performance and retention. I’m sure if he does well he can earn a pay raise.

Did any of you used to go to the Purcell Marian summer league? Later it became the Deveroes summer league??

I have always wondered if Coach Brannen played in that league??

I remember a guy named Brannen that looks like our new coach. He also played at a local college. I’m pretty sure it’s the same guy, and I hope it is! Love the way he played! Head fakes, nice jumpshot, moves down low. Just a smart great basketball player. Very skilled!

I would have Interviewed the others (not more than 1-2 days more as we needed to wrap this up) just in case you found a better candidate but more so to have a few options for down the road. You can’t really interview anybody any other time except for when there’s an opening.

I think recruitment could see an uptick from what we’ve seen in recent years. He was able t land 3 star recruits at NKU so I don’t see why he couldn’t improve that and bring in some solid 4 star recruits here. I also think we will see some different style recruits than what we saw under Cronin. More offensive focused and maybe some more shooters compared to Mick’s teams.

If Brennan plans on playing a pressing style defense and uptempo offense should help recruiting as should the new arena and the excitement that comes with a new coach. Especially if he can get off to a fast start in year 1.
