Can't believe James White has the nerve to say he wants to coach at UC after the way his career ended in the "not eligible verdict" during the NIT that season.

Brannen's staff
I would be shocked if Mick is just going to move all of his assistants to LA. I recognize that UCLA recruits itself, but I don't see UCLA being happy with those guys given what is required at UCLA.

That being said, Brannen should have full reign on his staff and assistants here at UC.

Also location, UCLA can cast a wide net, but I imagine most of Mick's assistants will have a recruiting focus out west. It seems Savino is the only assistant Mick really wants to bring with him.

Yea, I dont get these guys that just think they get to walk into these coaching jobs. I give a lot of credit to a guy like DerMarr, who wants to get into coaching so he takes an interim position, that I don't even think he was getting paid for and also finishing his degree.

Can’t imagine James has a degree considering he stopped going to class.

RE: Brannen's staff
I think NVE wants to get to a HC position. He initially took the assistant coach at Texas Southern to demonstrate that he was serious. It may have been after spending some time in the college ranks, he decided he liked the NBA life better than college. I think the fact he did not get a serious look may be a wake up call for him. I hope he signs on as an assistant w/ UC. I can also see him taking the HC position of a small school.

I wonder if any of the current staff/administrative support stays? I wonder if Demar finished his degree or will still be a GA? Addiitionally in years past when UC big were assisted by C Blount and maybe that relationship(sans weed) can be rekindled. 02-13-banana

I think he will be back on campus starting this summer to finish his degree. So he will be here regardless.

I think David Padgett might not be a bad choice, I believe Brannen knows him a little bit. He is currently unemployed and living in Louisville.

Sounds pretty narrow minded. FYI so was Billy.Donnovan and Kevin Willard, would you have not been interested im them either? How about Bob Knight's tree, alot of people.don't like him, I am guessing youbwould not have liked Chris Beard or Coach K either?

Honestly that whole 06 team can go away as far as I'm concerned. Hick's comments were ridiculous. Meeker wanting AK to get this job despite the fire that AK was pouring gas on the way out the door. I understand he was good to Meeker personally but that guy burned the bridge here permanently.

Honestly I think going outside the Huggins/Cronin family is ultimately going to be best long-term for our program. This program needed a new fresh start, a new path in order to unit an already fractured fan base and to draw back in casual fans in the Tristate that might be attracted to a new brand of basketball.

I felt that way for a while. We basically needed Mick to either make a Final Four or leave on his own. I think Mick Cronin did a heck of a job here but there were certain obstacles that he couldn't overcome. A fresh start is needed, there could be some growing pains but eventually I see a bright future for UC basketball.

RE: Brannen's staff
I wasn't advocating for a change since we have been in a good run over the last three years but I'm really excited for the fanbase to be unified again. Mick did a good job distancing himself from some of the bad stuff that preceded him but it was always complicated because of his background. I think some people never accepted him because he kind of had to turn his back on the past to be hireable to the administration at the time. I'm thankful he did because he was about the only guy who was so invested that he was willing to do what was needed to go from one scholarship player to 9 straight NCAAs. I'll always be thankful but this is a terrific opportunity for a new beginning.
