Very long but I did like the part about not trusting anyone who worked for McKinsey. You and I probably disagree on that as well as you seem to value the Rice athletics/McKinsey report a lot more than I do.

I don't value the McKinsey report because it came from McKinsey. I think it had a lot of good analysis. I know far too many Rice athletics boosters who had a knee-jerk reaction. I am actually a bit surprised that you disagree on the quality of the analysis. I know your boss and I discussed it several times, and we both thought is was pretty fairly and competently done.

McKinsey was hired to find a way to keep baseball and kill everything else. They basically said (correctly, IMO) that couldn't be done, but if you want to have a program you need to do it right. Unfortunately, that last part got lost on the people who could have done something about it.

I worked with McKinsey and Bain and all of the consulting houses, and they hire a lot of Rice grads. They are generally competent, but they definitely have an establishment mindset.

Why is it that democrats focus so much on identity politics? We've got to have a female, a minority, a gay person, to check all the blocks. Why isn't there any focus on issues? Is it because the issue positions are all so wacko?

I don't care for Donald Trump as a person. He's the typical arrogant, rude New Yorker personality type that I dislike. And I disagree with at least what seem to be his two primary issue positions--the wall and tariffs. But I don't find him nearly as distasteful on the broad spectrum of issues as I do any democrat.

Dude needs to be on lithium over his infatuation of Mike Pence.

My wife had McKinsey at her company and everyone referred to them as the kids. Never really asked the opinions of people who understood things. They just worked from scratch. Sounds like a perfect DC person, totally separated from the real world.
