RE: New AAC vs SEC Basketball Scheduling Arrangement
ESPN is no friend to UCONN. One of our beat writers said he didn't think we'd be included, but I think that was a personal feeling more so than something he heard.

If there are four schools that ESPN thinks would be a better national draw than UConn .... I sure would like to know who those schools are.

Sounds like that is a done deal then. I would think Houston/Texas A&M would be another solid matchup along with Wichita or Cincy/Mizzu. Not sure who to pair with Vandy. UConn or USF I guess.

I don't see anything sexy playing A&M in basketball... Football in the other hand, yes, make it happen ESPN.

What I read is not that ESPN has input, but that they actually choose the AAC teams.

I haven't read that any where. I've read several articles that all say the same thing. First just that 4 teams were playing each other. Now we knew the 4 sec teams based on how they select for the big xii challange. Since then it's all been the aac teams will be revealed, chosen, selected at another time.

Pretty sure this is not the only agreement which is why we find out in May.

ESPN is gambling UConn won't improve anytime soon.

Memphis Georgia matchup is based on rumor that John Martin, a local radio sports guy, has been hearing. He tweeted as much out yesterday. So well I do think Memphis and some of the other schools named above will be the AAC Representatives this is an official by a long shot just rumor.

I don't think this makes sense for part of a challenge but I do think it makes sense. A private school like Tulsa, SMU, Tulane are the kind of schools at Vanderbilt would do this with out of conference.

True. But I hope this isn't a buy game at Vandy. Not a good look. Usually you see a home and home announcement.

AAC basketball schools should not engage in non-return games unless under special situations (eg, ESPN mandate).

Just wait until poor Tulsa finds out we got a second h/h with another SEC school.

We make 2 million off a buy game in football for Texas or Michigan St. Don't really think there is a big enough return for us to do it for money, what's a basketball buy game a 100k?

Plus jt's Vandy who ain't paying crap for a buy game so this ain't about money. It seems every year or so we do an away "buy" game. I think it comes down to wanting to boost our SOS last year it was Utah, who then tanked.

But no one is projecting Vandy to be any good (next year at least). I guess it's better than playing some random low major, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Promise me you won't do a one off at BC in 2020.
