Homecoming Rejuvenation
I hear that Lisa Freeman has tasked the Alumni Association with creating a whole new approach to Homecoming to make it bigger and better. Supposedly there will be minor changes for 2019 with a complete overhaul coming in 2020.

Anyone with good ideas should probably forward them to the Alumni Association.

Going back to early October would be the best idea, IMHO.

Bringing back the Alumni Village would be a start. A great place to gather in your college tent to visit with old classmates and instructors. Each college tent provided a variety of food and tables to gather.

Re open Andy's Tap and McCabes. Andy's opened at 6 am on Homecoming. Drink there till McCabe's opened at 8 am. Do a few Tequila shots then line Dance. Stop at Tom & Jerrys for a gyro and head to tailgating to continue drinking...ah the good old days

What a perfect morning that was with beer and eggs. You had to make sure not to take a nap. If you did, you missed the game.

Just had a T&J gyro and it was the worst ever. I couldn't finish eating it and I finish everything. Not what I remembered 4 sure.

I like your bar hopping days from long ago.

RE: Homecoming Rejuvenation
I used to love the early homecoming days. McCabes for a 7am bloody, work your way down to Molly's, glance at the parade going by out the window from the back of the bar, argue with guys in my frat who went home to sleep instead of going to the game, memories....

I haven't been to a game in Dekalb in 3 years, is the tailgating still decent? Always had a good energy for a non P5 back in the day. Hope the greeks still tear it up.

Earlier in October the better...

I like how the new president is coming in and working on improving the overall experience. She is not missing any details. She is working hard to make NIU a place that people want to attend.

I am old, cold and slow now. Although I can hold my own day drinking.

That was pretty much us. We'd sneak a nap in between apartment drinking and Andy's at 6. Then it was post game power nap and be ready to go out Saturday night to some apartment party. I can't do anything like that now. I'm ready to pass out by midnight if we're out somewhere.

This makes me feel tired reading this. Not a chance I ever made it from Friday thru the homecoming game even in the good ole days. Too tough for me!

The one time I started drinking early for homecoming it was screwdrivers, don't remember which bar. I barely made it to tailgating and didn't even make the game.

As a freshman, my buddy poured me a cup of Early Times and told me to drink it...on top of all the Busch Lights I shotgunned....I remember walking to the stadium and getting to the entrance...my last memory was turning around as I was scanned in

I woke up the next day in my bed in Grant Tower North...still wearing red and black...thankfully it wasn't Kish
