Mississippi State and Missouri have not participated in the challenge in several years, which is interesting. Georgia and Alabama have missed the challenge for a few years as well.

It would be hard to imagine the AAC sending primarily the same four teams every time. You have to think they create a 4 team yearly rotation. Having two traditional powers with traditional bottom dwellers.

So the American has picked up 4 SEC teams.

Might pick up 4 Big 10 teams left out of the Big East challenge.

And one ACC team left out of the Big Ten challenge.

That would be 9 games a year. We have 9 or 10 legit basketball schools. Works perfectly! Get'r done, Aresco!

One note: there is more than four Big Ten teams left out vs. Big East. There is 8 teams from both conferences in. Big East leaves out 2 and Big Ten 6.

You always use this term to describe the B1G, and I'm not sure why? I've never been a B1G fan, but IMO this is unwarranted.

Yes, at the time when FSU went up to Michigan in 1991, there was definitely a difference in culture between the deep south teams, which emphasized speed, and the midwest teams, which emphasized bulk and power. That difference was based in geography - speed thrives in warmth but shrivels in the cold.

But these days, everyone recognizes that speed kills, and recruits for it. If there is a speed gap among the major conferences, it's a small one.

If you mean that as kind of a general statement about talent, well consider that in the past five years, from 2014 - 2018, Clemson had 28 NFL draft picks, Ohio State had 38. There isn't a talent gap among the top teams either.
