ESPN+ becomes the de facto Big 12 network.

Starting in '19, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State will provide games for ESPN+. The following year, Iowa State, TCU, West Virginia and Texas Tech will participate...."

It sounds like a $2 million raise for the Big 12. But it could also be a misleading $22 million as the ACC did when they announced their deals by only counting forward years. May not be much of any raise.

How does Oklahoma and Texas continuously get away with screwing the rest of the Big 12? Get the hell out of that conference it’s the least level playing field I’ve ever seen.

This contract makes it clear every non UT/OU school is basically a AAC school and I now fully expect ESPN has the ability to influence these 2 leagues futures.

2024/25 is coming.

You’re not a power league if your “defacto network” is ESPN+ LMAO you’re the AAC.

I'd look at the deal- 40 million over 6 years- it'd be basically about 10 million for the 3 title games and then 10 million for the ESPN+ stuff.

People that hate ESPN+ must have had a really hard time when the Milk man stopped deliveries.

Because where can *any* of them go, except the AAC or MWC? It's not like the SEC and B1G are fighting over Texas Tech, TCU, and Kansas, eh?

The Big 12, even with the favoritism that OU and TX get, is way better for any of them than anywhere else that wants them.

The AAC is G5 because officially, they ARE in the G5, and because unofficially, their money is far, far closer to G5 than P5.

This Big 12 deal changes none of that.

Remember, the Big 12 is only screwed if Texas and Oklahoma are screwed, and this quote says they aren't:

"Texas, which has Longhorn Network, and Oklahoma, which has its own local rights deal, will not provide content to ESPN+."

This is a very good Big 12 deal. It basically pays them very nice money for three CCG games, and dumps a bunch of low-rent Big 12 content (meaning not TX or OU) on to ESPN+.

All I heard on here from Big 12 posters was if the AAC is on the same platform as the Sunbelt then what does that say about the AAC as a conference.

It was nonstop “only an irrelevant league would put any point blank period....content behind a pay wall”.

The numbers just aren't there to make it a home for G5 schools or only for P5 buy games with FCS schools. ESPN has to get millions of subscribers, and this means they'll be eventually touching most, if not every conference, P5 and G5 alike. It will also mean there will be games of importance occasionally as well.

Now I can pay my $60 a year and get all the App State Sports I can manage to watch. ESPN+ has way more content than ESPN3 had for the Sun Belt.

Yeah I would think for a fan of a G5 program, ESPN + is probably a net positive. You get everything and can rewatch too.
