What would OU and Texas leaving mean for the value of the B12? The remaining schools are still higher value than any AAC school, but they are either private schools (Baylor, TCU) or public schools from small States and mostly the 2nd school at that (I State, K State, OK State, and WVU), add to that Texas Tech is outside the "Texas Triangle" in a smaller metro. Theses are strong, well budgeted programs, far above the AAC, but without Texas or Oklahoma to attach to they are not sufficiently strong to be in the same category as conferences with flagships and blue bloods. ...

Which would be quite similar to the BCS Power 5 plus the Big Least ... a conference of princes at best with no Kings as an anchor.

SO I see Oklahoma bolting right away, and Kansas even fighting the uneven split (risky strategy, but if they have an exit spot they'll do it) as they are the most likely beneficiary should Oklahoma bolt, as Texas may well stay until 2030 anyway (the LHN means they can leave on their own time table). There is no way Texas signs another GOR however, as they see the clock ticking too. ESPN sees this risk too and will demand a GOR, a GOR that would require ESPN fork out near SEC level money to get Texas and Oklahoma to sign; that just doesn't hit the ROI needed.

What would OU and Texas

I think a lot of people overestimate OU’s value as a free agent without UT. With the SEC and Big 10 bringing in $60-70M per school, it would be hard see the increased value for any school not named UT or Notre Dame. One would have to assume that if OU leaves without UT, one other school would have to join them, and whoever that is would certainly not be able to pay for itself in terms of the value it brings.

I guess ESPN or Fox could save money by blowing up the Big 12 and use what is saved to convince either the SEC or Big 10 to take OU and UT.
