I like this a lot. Looks like what they wore in the 90’s, except no sleeve stripes in football.

This is by FAR my favorite look for Pitt. Dan Marino, Tony Dorsett ... and many of the other greats in Pitt history donned that look.

This makes me happier than it should. lol

Congrats Pitt!!

It's about damn time. Nice to see the school/vendor responding to the public.

Those uniforms are unique. To be frank, Pitt football post Marino has been one of the more generic football programs in the nation, and I never understood jettisoning a super unique scheme for another drab navy scheme that could be anyone, and frankly, looked like a lot of the uniforms at the FBS level.

Glad to see them back. Here's to Syracuse getting their colors back someday too...

They are working on it with Nike as we speak. Those platinum uniforms were hated by SU fans and the university heard them loud and clear

The new panther logo is based on a fountain at the Cathedral of Learning on campus. I love that the administration took the time to make it meaningful rather than just marketing.

I saw this the other day, and I agree with everyone here, they absolutely nailed it. The cathedral details in the stripes, numbering and lettering are so nice.

A little jealous to be honest... VT's "refresh" a few years ago was pretty underwhelming IMO, but Pitt did a great job on this one.

That’s awesome
Hold a huge reveal to return something you should never have left.

I love it. Kind of a middle finger to all the out with the old in with the new bs.

We’re bringing the old stuff back. We’re bringing the pride back!

Maybe the youth today find it too basic, but the uniforms during Mike Vick's tenure were classic, clean, and to the point. I liked numbers with the outline similar to the "VT", and the orange numbers on the sleeves.

On the hardwood, you guys looked like a practice squad in those all blacks with the giant "VT". Maybe the new coach gets you some Dell Curry throwbacks. 04-cheers

The best thing I can say about the current set of Hokies' uniforms is that there is lots of room for improvement... some of them are every bit as bad as those Syracuse football uniforms (which, I understand, are going to get "fixed" this year - we hope!)

For the sake of the ACC Network launch, PLEASE fix the VT (and SU) uniforms!

I don't disagree. I'm not a big fan of the shoulder stripes on the current set of football jerseys.

As far as our basketball jerseys go, our white jerseys and maroon jerseys are my two favorite looks. The orange is meh, but then again, I've never been a huge fan of the all orange look for VT. I think it's way better as an accent color for us. Gray, black and pink jerseys can go away forever.

RE: Pitt Uniform and Logo Change
We kind of knew Pitt was going to do this as of last year when they started wearing the throwbacks for important games. Then all the recruits wore the throwbacks in the pictures they had taken, etc. Knowing that they were doing a refresh this year and then also did a study with Nike made it almost certain this was the direction they were headed.

When I first got to Pitt in 2008, it was apparent to me that this was the way to go. It's taken 10+ years to get there of mostly gradual steps, however, we ended up in the right spot. I'm very happy and bought quite a bit of new merchandise to help them out.

RE: Pitt Uniform and Logo Change
As a longtime Pitt fan, I can tell you that most Pitt fans have been clamoring for a return to these colors and logos since literally the day the changes were originally made back in 1996. It’s one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. Everyone immediately hated them and no one ever changed their opinion on that matter. And yet, for reasons that will always remain unclear, they defiantly kept them.

People would say during the various incarnations of the navy blue and Vegas gold color scheme, “These look like Notre Dame‘s uniforms;” or “Those look like Navy’s uniforms.” Most Pitt fans I knew just wanted Pitt to look like Pitt again? Why that seemingly simple, common sense decision took 23 years to happen is anyone’s guess?

RE: Pitt Uniform and Logo Change
For years now, if you went to a Pitt home football game you would seen various shades of blue and gold in the stands. It was so odd because there was no set school colors like you see literally everywhere else.

I was at the Pitt spring game yesterday and there were probably 8-10K there and I’m telling you that everyone, literally everyone, was wearing royal blue. It took people exactly 5 minutes to revert back to what they’ve always wanted.

RE: Pitt Uniform and Logo Change
As for the uniforms themselves, I actually think the blue and yellow are slightly off. I think they are too bright and prefer a darker blue and a more mustard gold. However, that’s speaking purely as a traditionalist. I get that the younger folks probably prefer the more vibrant colors and that’s whose going to buy the vast majority of that stuff anyway.

No matter what, these unis are 10,000 times better than what they had been wearing.

Pitt’s famous Cathedral of Learning is widely regarded as one of the most iconic academic buildings in the world, much less North America. It is a truly spectacular work of architecture and the epicenter of the Pitt campus. However, I do worry that sometimes we get a little too tied to that because most outsiders would have no idea about it’s significance or majesty.

Here are some photos of it.

Honestly, it looks like Hogwarts. I’ve been inside that building literally thousands of times and every single time you step foot in it you feel like you are somewhere special.

Nike obviously incorporated it into the striping and into the number font. They wanted the arched numbers to represent the arches of the Cathedral. I’m not hogwild about overly stylized numbers and I definitely wish these have been white, rather than gold, but I get what they’re going for here.
