NYT: The Democratic Electorate on Twitter is Not Real Life
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019...-life.html

Interesting article from the New York Times. Basically it says the rabid leftists you see on social media are not indicative of your garden variety of Democrat you find in real life. In fact, your run of the mill Democrat is much more moderate than the folks on social media.

It tends to go hand in hand, for both sides really. alt-left, alt-right those with extremist views tend to be extremist personalities and are likely to be the most vocal. In real life, 95% people I encounter tend to be center-left or center-right

I generally concur with your sentiment, but I would amend what you are saying in that I know first-hand a lot more people who fall into the alt-left category, while I can't think of a single person I know who is on the alt-right ( I know some guys who are true aholes and have some racist tendencies, but they aren't alt-right).

I'm glad the NYT finally admits this, but rational people have know this for a looooooong time.

Maybe there's hope for th..... nevermind.

One of the problems with local government deciding things by who shows up in a public meeting. Hence the 100-200 people who ride bikes in a metro determine transportation policy for the 2-7 million who don't.

Depends on who's setting the definitions.

I'm sure to the NYT and their partners in crime, "Alt-Right" is anyone who in Pro 2A, wants a wall, doesn't believe in coed bathrooms, etc. You know, people who support all those "hateful" policies.

On the other hand, I'm sure they think anyone who's not left of Stalin is "moderate".
