I'm not, though. I am quite pleased that he has seemingly abandoned all connection to his undergrad school.
I guess he should have zero connections to his law school alma mater?
Come on, Tanq! Undergrad trumps grad school every time! Right? Rice is playing a major rival and you show up in their colors, tweet "#hookem", and make no mention that they happen to be playing your alma mater? I'm not saying don't have connections to your law school but that is pretty over the top, no?
Quote:And, for your information, I can think of at least three Rice Alumni events here in Austin he has done a a lot for; including being the sole speaker for a 1.5 hour CLE event for Rice Austin attorneys.
I doubt he has abandoned *all* connection. Since you are elated that he surfically has abandoned all connection, sorry to burst your bubble.
Damn.
Quote:In all honesty, I dont care whether people whom hold views counter to mine support Rice. In fact I would be somewhat proud of that, and I kind of actually think it kind of neat when Josh Earnest (someone with whom I really share no common political beliefs with) notes Rice -- kind of sad that you would allow such an overt expression of antipathy based on philosophical point of view and/or party affiliation.
Progressives --- viewpoint of tolerance and all that jazz......
You've got a point, Tanq. I fired off that post while trying to stream the game and get the kids to bed. I didn't mean for it to sound quite so bitter. I was going for more tongue-in-cheek but upon re-reading my post it seems that I missed the mark.
It might surprise you to hear that I am a big fan of 41 and Barbara. 43 not so much. I liked Jeb and if he had won the Republican nomination I would have had to really think about who I would cast my vote for between him and Hillary.
I guess the whole #hookem thing is just irritating to see because it is somewhat emblematic about what I hate about policiticians. (He also tweets things like "As a loyal Longhorn...") I feel like its a calculated effort to position yourself as appealing to the maximum amount of voters while abandoning principles. Every politician does it to some extent. Sort of like embracing Donald not long after he disrespected your father in a really profound way.
I'm actually glad that he still does stuff for Rice. I had big hopes for him at one point but I feel like the promise has been somewhat squandered based on what I've seen over the past couple years. I hope he does well.
Nonetheless... undergrad over grad school every time. I'll go to my grave on that one.
