Aggies just signed the FOY from the AAC conference. Stacking up again for another WAC title run.

RE: WAC Commits 2019-20...
Who are they taking a scholarship from?

Verbal Commits has NMST at 15 scholarships, Queen and T.Brown aren't listed as scholarship players on the website as well, if memory serves me correctly you can only have 13 on a ride. NMST with some gamesmanship.

Typically incoming freshmen players come in as non-scholarship freshmen redshirts. They pay their way as they get acclimated to college life and get their academics in order. So, it is likely Agee and Westbrook will walk-on and sit out this season. Also, based off his JC stats, I suspect Dajour Joseph will be a walk-on; similarly to Keyon Jones the last two seasons. Jans will have the scholarship situation sorted out before the start of the season. I think Queen will get a scholarship this season but because of Brown's off-the-court situation prior to NMSU, it is likely he will remain a walk-on for his final season here.

I thought Jans stated that Queen and Brown had earned scholarships for the upcoming season? Pretty sure I read that somewhere. In any case, Jans knows what he's doing.

New Mexico State just added 6'10 Forward Carl Lewis to it's roster. He is a four-star recruit on ESPN and Rivals and Three-Star recruit on 24/7 Recruiting.

RE: WAC Commits 2019-20...
NMSU picked up a real good BIG man. Carl Lewis looks to have a lot of upside given his athleticism and considerable size (6'10, 285-lbs)…

Another addition to the WAC is BYU guard transfer Jahshire Hardnett (5'11, 170-lbs, GR); who has now committed to UM Kansas City. Hardnett averaged 9.7 ppg at BYU last season and is well traveled. He started out his college basketball career at Fordham, then transferred to Chipola CC, before landing at BYU.

NMSU is going to be loaded next season with the transfers and redshirts and Johnny will return too.

RE: WAC Commits 2019-20...
Keep picking up those prop 48 athletes.....

Beginning August 1, 2016, NCAA Division 1 will require 10 core courses to be completed prior to the seventh semester (seven of the 10 must be a combination of English, math or natural or physical science that meet the distribution requirements). These 10 courses become "locked in" at the start of the seventh semester and cannot be retaken for grade improvement.

Beginning August 1, 2016, it will be possible for a Division 1 college-bound student-athlete to still receive athletics aid and the ability to practice with the team if he or she fails to meet the 10 course requirement, but would not be able to compete.

NMSU has the advantage of having a Dona Ana Community College on the same site as the NMSU campus. Prop 48 kids can take college prep classes there while still building a comradery with the current active Aggie roster.

Keep on handing out those Cracker Jack Diplomas from GCU!!! You act as if GCU is the Harvard of the South West. GCU being an institution of higher learning is an Oxymoron buddy.

No crying here, just saying without the juco on campus NMSU wouldn't be able to grab talented kids greyshirt them at the juco for a year. This is the only reason why NMSU gets these types of talent. I say keep doing it b/c it works but know that's the only reason why Carl Lewis types show up.

NMSU has always done this. It started under Menzies. They're still students at NMSU. They can just take some work at the community college their on campus. Pascal Siakam is a product of this.

I'm pretty sure NMSU isn't the only school that can go this route. And I would disagree that this is the "only" reason we get these kids. These kids could go to another school with a program that can help them get eligible (and what's wrong with that anyways; these are kids we are talking about). I'm sure they also pick NMSU because we regularly win titles, we regularly go to the NCAA's, we've been sending folks to the NBA at a pretty good clip and a host of other positive reasons.

These kids come to NMSU and also IMPROVE drastically their academic standing with an excellent 1st Tier nationally ranked academic school and internationally ranked school education. LJ Figeroua came to NMSU with iffy academics and he improved drastically during his red shirt season. Unfortunately he never played after Weir went to UNM but then he transferred to St. Johns, a Big East school that is not easy to qualify for. He was only able to do this with his dramatic academic improvement while attending NMSU. Kids come to NMSU for a million different reasons. Kids go to GCU cause why? Your crowd? Cause Dan Majerle played in the NBA 30 years ago? Why else?

Good find Prof. I read this and didn’t hear anyone on here saying much about him. He was a three start recruit on verbal commits and 24/7 sports.

I like that he’s coming out of high school and isn’t yet another grad transfer. That’s a better sign for recruiting efforts. Hopefully he will stick around for four years. Our last couple of true freshman recruits didn’t hang very long.
