Cruz and Dunny walk. Bases loaded, 2 outs for Collins with Rice leading 8-5. I'm assuming Jefferies is ready to go in the 9th?

And Justin strikes out on 3 pitches for his 3rd strikeout of the game.

First complete game in Matt's career, and the first Rice complete game in too long to remember. Was it Fox or do we have to go as far back as Kubitza?

Terrific comeback against a very, very good LHP pitcher. This type of game will only further bolster the team confidence and momentum. Let's take two tomorrow.

Very nice win, although FIU had a big hand in it with that 8th inning defense. 5 wins in a row is nice - might tie our longest streak from 2017 IIRC?

Is there a double header tomorrow because of the weather conditions this weekend?

Amazing effort by Matt, especially when you consider he labored through 28 pitches in that 4-run 2nd inning. Threw 81 pitches the other 8 innings combined.

@Walt, why'd you stop giving out the 3 gameballs? I used to enjoy reading up on those

I usually only do it when I'm watching the entire game. I had to run out for dinner on this one. However...

Game Ball #1: Matt Canterino (W, 3-4, 9.0 IP, 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 BBs, 1 HBP, 7 Ks, 109 pitches)-- with his first career complete game and the first for Rice in at least 3 years (and possibly much longer). What an effort after laboring through a 28-pitch, 4-run second inning.

Game Ball #2: Bradley Gneitting (2-5, 2 RBIs)-- just doing what he's done all year long. By far, the most consistent hitter on the team.

Game Ball #3: Andrew Dunlap (1-3, BB, HR#10, 2 RBIs, run)-- continues his hot hitting and power surge.

5-game win streak is the longest since 2017. Let's keep the momentum going tomorrow. Go Owls!

BTW, another error-less game. 03-cloud9

RE: FIU at Rice, Game 1
We had 3 CG in 2016 (1 each by Fox, Duplantier and Salinas).

DH tomorrow is now at 1 pm (they moved it up an hour).
