With or without Bassey WKU is going to be loaded next year.
Let’s slow down a little. A lot of people thought the same thing this past season as well.
We'll be a contender. I don't think anybody would dispute that.

CUSA Basketball Transfers
Just realized I read that incorrectly, not a transfer.

The other contenders from this past year likely take a step back. I would be shocked if wku doesnt win the league this year..

I agree Flash but Stansbury has loaded up the talent to have an even better team this fall. The Justice get was huge. You have Carson Williams, Cameron Justice, and potentially Kenny Cooper and they are just the transfers. Hollingsworth, Anderson, Nelson, Smith, Savage, and potentially Bassey back.

If a few contenders drop off then a few will take their place. That is the way it seems to work.
Looks like UTSA only loses one starter and returns the dynamic duo. They will be an experienced group next year. If they can add a player or two of value they will be a SERIOUS contender next year.
Not sure what North Texas is adding this offseason but I don't think they lose much and they can definitely move into that contender category.
Also sounds like that even though Old Dominion loses some key players to graduations they are making some nice additions and they will always be well coached and defense oriented. They will be in the mix again.
I think UTEP, MTSU, and Charlotte will be improved although I don't know if they can move into the "contender" category. UTEP has been quietly been recruiting very well and they have a fantastic fanbase. I think it is just a matter of time before they are back in that top tier. MTSU's fanbase supported this past year's team very well in spite of the results. Will be interesting to see how they go the next two or three years. Regaining momentum can be very difficult. WKU went to a sweet 16 in 2008 and has now spent more than a decade trying to regain that momentum.
Southern Miss will fall hard I fear.
Marshall didn't exactly light the world on fire this past season and they got hit pretty hard by graduations. I could see them getting lost in the shuffle of that sizable mid section of the conference.

we are in thr final 2/4 for two grad transfers that would likely be impact players. If we get them I think we could finally be a respectable member of thr conference but I dont see them makiblng us contenders.
I see utep taking a big leap.

Think this is a JUCO. I'm losing my touch with interpreting these transfers

The 3rd time has already happened for Stansbury at WKU
16-17 15-17
17-18 27-11
18-19 20-14
In 17 years as a HC Stansbury with the talent around him has only won a conference twice.

Well, lets keep in mind that 14 of those years he was in a conference with Kentucky and Florida. Cats and Gators won 9 SEC tournaments and 3 National Championships during Ricks time at Miss St. Stansbury won as many SEC tournament titles (3) as all other SEC schools not named UK and UF did combined during his tenure. He's made 2 conference title games in 3 years of a major program rebuild at WKU. But hey, who cares about context?

And during the best player ever to play at Marshall’s tenure did you finished higher then third ever? Wasn’t last years fourth place finish the highest in his career?

Marshall has been to 1 NCAA tournament since 1988, so Stansbury is on pace based on school you cheer....

North Texas picks up a grad transfer from North Dakota State - 6-8 forward who averaged almost 10 points a game off the bench (Deng Geu sp?).

RE: CUSA Basketball Transfers
I guess if Bassey leaves, WKU will have plenty to pay out for some players out of the stansbury slush fund. I am excited to see the new Marshall squad. A lot of young talent. I expect this season to be a sort of rebuilding year, but i think we'll still be in the thick of things when the smoke clears.

In fairness, it would help if Dantoni was a scumbag and hiring recruits family members and paying them too.

In all fairness, it is completely legal by the NCAA to have a guardian or parent of a recruit or current player on the coaching staff. Happens legitimately all over the country. Also, if we are paying players I'm not sure where this money is coming from. You seen WKU's athletic budget? Id also assume that we would no doubt be the low bidder on buying players if that were the case. Not sure we could compete financially with the blue bloods for recruit funds. Maybe, just maybe, Dantoni is a below average recruiter.

I don't usually partake in these sidebars, but my dude... Paying recruits doesn't come from the athletic budget since it's an NCAA violation.

Obviously you cant take athletic budget money and hand it to players. However, schools have been known to fudge accounting numbers on travel, food, lodging, and team expenses and misappropriate those funds. Just saying, we don't have donors ponying up hundreds of thousands of dollars to get kids here. Stanz got high profile recruits at Miss St and has deep connections in recruiting pipelines everywhere he goes. Just think it's sour grapes saying we are blatantly cheating when there is zero evidence to the contrary.
