RE: 2019 NFL Draft (April 25-27)
I think the Colts were set to take Max at 59, with the Chargers wanting him at 60.

I noted earlier (but deleted) how the Rams moved down to 56 but stayed in font of 59/60. As soon as Max got picked at 55, the Rams traded out of that 56 pick. I think the Rams were hoping to select Max with that 56th pick.

CONGRATS TO MAX!

GO TEXANS! GO HUSKIES!

#55 pick, they're expecting him to contribute.Congrats Max and congrats to those on the board who picked him going 2nd round. I was hoping he would slide to Colts.

Texans selected raw OT Tytus Howard out of FCS Alabama State (shoutout to Jeff Hill) in Round 1 but I bet Max plays ahead of him.

Funny is that many OT rankings had Max and Tytus usually right next to each other (with Max often just ahead of Tytus) but it was Tytus who was selected in the 1st Round. Regardless, Max is the more NFL-ready of the two and I bet he ends up ahead of Tytus on opening day depth chart.

Texans probably hope these two develop into 10-year starters at LT/RT. Healthy competition is always good.

Well said, agree 100%. Max is more ready, they may be thinking Max inside and Tytus at OT

By their own words, the Texans (rightfully) see Max as a Tackle (look at those sweet feet).

Day 2 Notables:

NIU's Max Scharping selected 55th overall by the Houston Texans.

Other MAC selections: Central Michigan CB Sean Bunting (39th overall to Buccaneers) and Toledo WR Diontae Johnson (66th overall to Steelers).

WIU Leatheneck DT Khalen Saunders 84th overall to Chiefs.

ZERO iLLini and N'western players selected (I think. I don't actually care enough to double check. I just don't remember hearing any announced).

RE: 2019 NFL Draft (April 25-27)
Day 3:

Sutton being selected somewhere in the 5th around would be a bit of a surprise but not completely unexpected. However, I will start paying closer attention as pick #175 comes around. Sixth Round and up is where I expect Sutton to go.

As for UDFA's, Josh Corcoran, Albert Smalls, DJ Brown, and Andrew Gantz (maybe the CHI Bears) have a chance at being signed or invited to camp. Anyone else?

A Punter just got drafted. In the 4th Round. Ha ha.

Now a Kicker in the 5th Round. Both from Utah.

Utes kicking game killing the 2019 NFL Draft (enter Carey apologists pointing to this as a reason why NIU lost at home). "They had two future NFL Draft picks in their kicking game. You can't overcome that."

Ha ha.

No apologism (is that word? if not, new word) from here. Carey almost seemed a throwback to Woody Hayes' "three yards and a cloud of dust," except Carey's was three downs and a poochie punt. To his credit, Hayes later "discovered" the forward pass. If Carey hadn't left for Temple, he'd still be looking.

Western Illinois DL picked 3rd round. This makes Carey’s loss to the Leathernecks look quite a bit better and quiets the critics.

RE: 2019 NFL Draft (April 25-27)
That loss was in 2016, in Northern's 5-7 season with (as I recall; correct if not) a number of different qb's due to injuries. I have to think KC looked more at the last two years than one game three years ago. That said, WIU is my "second U," so I'm glad a Leatherneck made it in the "Top 100."

And you're right, BDB5yp. New sheriff in town. Overcome by temptation.
