Dang. I've watched games every week. And bought a t-shirt. I liked it!

What about that poor bastard who invested $250 million? He's out a ton of cash. That's too bad about the league suspending operations. I was only able to watch one game since most of the games were on NFL Network and Direct TV sucks. I hope Woodside catches on with another NFL Team.

That poor dude is a billionaire who made his money making sub-prime auto loans. Something doesn't add up about the whole thing. He knew the finances before he stepped in with the money, and he had to be aware that starting a new business like this was very risky and they likely wouldn't make money for several years. And his purported reason to bail is that the NFLPA won't let him have signed players? That wouldn't have helped until next season, and even then there is no evidence that those (mostly practice-squad level players) would make any difference in the league's success. So, something seems a little off about the whole thing - I don't know what, but then again, I am no billionaire.

He took a $70 million loss investing in something that has proven time and time again that it doesn't work, BUT he now owns the only thing that was worth anything in this league, a real-time mobile betting platform. The football was worthless and never had a chance to succeed financially (they almost missed payroll in Week 1, hence Dundon's bailout), but this gambling technology is cutting edge and that $70 million lost could look like a wise investment down the road.
