Congrats to UNA on the facilities!! Visited your campus and the Florence area a few years ago. Loved it! Very nice place. Any detail on the football stadium or renderings. Any link or story? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the nice words... and glad you enjoyed your visit. Been wanting to get up to WKU and check campus out, but work and children have put the breaks on most travels. Hopefully, before too long yall CSN schedule UNA and I can make the game.

Was told today that there are plans in place to expand Flowers Hall in the future. I will not get into too much detail, but the attendance will have to go up drastically before it will be feasible.

We just announced that we’re going to replace the roof on the Vines Center. It is long overdue.

Liberty was supposed to officially open its new indoor tennis facility today, but the campus is closed due to snow and ice. But the building is complete... opening ceremony to come later. Competition in the new facility was supposed to start tomorrow.

New JaxSt stadium renderings.

Interesting they are going to build a dorm there.

  • The renderings are not final. Architects are still working on the final design. As such, final stadium capacity is still unknown. My guess is, they'll take it to 30,000 and leave it there.
  • Incorporating the dorms and a dining hall will allow the expansion to be effectively cost neutral. (JSU will be able to cancel a $4M yearly lease with an area apartment complex and collect dorm fees, and Sodexo will be contributing $20M for the dining hall.)
  • Construction will begin in January, and is expected to be completed by Fall 2023.

Looks nice. If it ends up being like the rendereings wouldnt that lower attendance? It doesnt look like that would hold more than 20k

The current stadium holds 24K.

The renderings do look like seating would be reduced slightly in the north stands, but that loss would be offset by new seating in the west end zone and northwest corner.

I don't think they'll reduce seating at all, but it's definitely not going to be a massive 10K-15K increase. That said, if they can raise it by 6K seats to 30K, it would bring total capacity to a solid number if the school has any future FBS dreams.

Our old rival now playing in the Sun Belt has a capacity of 30,420. I'd expect JSU to aim for as close to that as possible.

RE: New and upgrading facilities in the ASun
Regardless of how the seating it will be the nicest stadium in the FCS if its anything close to the renderings. Heck yalls stadium is currently one of the best in FCS, so this has to be a signal pointing towards FBS aspirstions. It's nice to see yall actually have a plan for upgrading to move up a level as opposed to the SLC to WAC schools who seem to just plan to move up with their dumpy stadiums. Well, ACUs is nice but too small for FBS.

Edit: going off of memory I also thought that both sides of the stadium were the same size. Thats why figured there wouldve been a reduction in seating.

Thanks! I don't know if it'll be the nicest in FCS, but it should certainly be in the Top 10.

BTW, I just got confirmation that final capacity is expected to be 29K. So, just under my 30K guess.

I think y’all are plotting a move to FBS. No way this is happening without something in the works

RE: New and upgrading facilities in the ASun
I think the final design needs work. A different style or architecture on the buildings. I am absolutely no expert. Just do not like the look imo. And yes I have been there recently for a game so am somewhat familiar and really like the current stadium. It just looks like a couple of dorms plopped down next to the field-- need more imagination on the design. Again-- I have no suggestion.

These are renderings not the final plans. Sure some changes will be made.

We've had several threads on innovative suggestions in the last 10 years but it doesn't appear the powers that be were listening.

Is this field going to have alternating colors like Central Arkansas' football field?

Alternating shades of green. Light and dark sort of like it was mid fall when I was at school.
