RE: Pollen.
agreed with BG...some act like people are going to say "hey, i never knew i loved college bball...im gonna start watching it. well, UAB is a lot closer, i'll go watch them."
the state of alabama has proven time and time again that they care to watch college bball with the home team is really, really good...or they are playing a traditional bball power. thats it

Everyone talks about Pearl cheating on here, but what has he actually done, or been accused of doing, that's so awful?
Some links or stories or something would be nice.
Just seems that a blanket, "he's dirty and a cheat," statement comes out of everyone's mouth without any kind of explanation.
Not trying to bash anyone. I'm honestly asking out of ignorance.

he refused to cooperate with Auburn in an internal investigation...to me, thats enough to be fired and never employed again at the college level.
if he loses, i think it is...but since he gets to the Final4, its all water under the bridge. to me, thats whats wrong with college athletics. winning erases many sins
(that doesnt even touch on the events that got him fired from UT, after being caught lying to the NCAA)

Exactly. The fact that this has just been completely forgotten about is mind boggling.

Its a fair question. I'm curious if we should judge all cheating the same. I mean are violating minor rules the same as handing out cash? And what about graduation rates? Should coaches be judged on that as well? (Careful that one hits close to home). Is Pearl a bigger cheat because we couldn't beat him in four years? Hell I'm not saying he isn't but i also believe labeling him that provides another convenient excuse for many in Blazerland.

Auburn is eliminated after a last second foul that gave UVA three free shots on the charity line.

RE: Pollen.
Back in the day, when you paid players they were ineligible for good.
Vicki Orr pimped her son to every high school and lots of colleges.
She received a check for his services at Auburn.
Likewise Purifoy's parents received money.
That might be enough for a clean coach to keep his job but it shouldn't be enough for Pearl to have kept his especially after he told the Auburn AD & President FU.

& word on the street is that Pearl was having discussions with the NCAA after the game.
Of course it probably wasn't any type discussion that we would like.
I do find it quite hilarious of all of the whining going on when they seem to forget of his & his former coaches' doings.

Or...it was a ref calling a foul on a play that was clearly a foul

Right but how often do you see a no call in that situation.

Sucks for auburn but that was definitely a foul.
The missed kickball/double dribble was absolutely awful. That was a joke.
The foul on the defender in the Tennessee Game was a lot worse. The offensive player kicked his leg out to make contact. The UVA player went straight up and the auburn player made contact and did not give him room to land. Boneheaded play.

I must have missed the memo on when paying players' parents became legal.
My apologies.

The replay from the side showing the AU player jumping into the Virginia shooter was definitive. It was a foul.
I don't give a **** about Auburn but the fact they had proven bought players on the court made me not unhappy at all with the outcome. The shamelessness of it is pretty disgusting.

i wonder how many players are paid on the UVA and TTU squads?
what about Tariq Owens? I wonder how much they paid him to transfer from St Johns?
When he graduated there must have been an auction for him.

Actually at Tenn. Pearl was involved with mutiple burner phones, sending girls to recruits, providing illegal clothing I,e,. dozens of expensive shoes to same players. When being questioned denied BBQ and ten years asst wife, Never denied any of these allegations were ever denied by Pearl but all he rembers to talk about is BBQ
