Yes. I don't remember if it was during Nats or NHL playoff games but I have seen the "Epic" commercial several times during multiple games. I have also seen the digital billboard on the side of 264 heading into downtown Norfolk pimping season tickets.

Same, I believe I saw the same ad during a Nats game and the NBA playoffs. They also had a table setup at wine fest promoting season tickets and I expect they will do the same at Harborfest.

OK...I wonder why people don't know then. These are not totally disconnected fans from ODU sports. They really need to hit primetime local channels and news broadcasts.

My guess, most people use commercials as a time to look at their phones.

Seems like a plausible reason. We're also inundated as people with ads. Even email campaigns are useless unless I actively go in and look for it or search. Otherwise stuff gets lumped in with 1000s of other email campaigns. People have to want to seek it or you have to do something way over the top to get the attention among the white noise.

RE: Football Marketing
Every year I float this suggestion. Here goes again.

This area has always been a High School football hotbed. Each summer- my doorbell rings with kids selling candles, popcorn, coupon books and on and on and on.

It makes sense to me to allow local teams to sell season tickets as a fund-raiser (let's say a ticket goes for $100- school keeps $30). It appeals directly to a football audience and gets local athletes engaged to ODU football. There is no conflict on game schedule (Friday night versus Saturday).

Team teams selling most tickets gets in game recognition, prizes, equipment, a clinic....whatever.

Great idea....ODU is not very innovative. we have well over 4000 tickets left so it is not like they have too much demand.

Good idea but times are changing with high school football around the Hampton Roads area. As a former official with Southeastern Football Officials Association, I left because of an illness and demand of time it takes now with the shortage of officials in the area. High Schools are opting to play games on Saturday afternoons in the fall more nowadays than before. School officials find the riff raff and gangs between rivalries are less likely during daylight. Some schools stadiums have fallen in disrepair and have to play during daylight and others have to use fields at other nearby schools on Saturdays. It use to be a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night gig but its sometimes 5 out 7 nights a week between middle, junior varsity, and varsity programs. Add a couple of rain delay makeups and other weather cancelations it won't be long we'll have area football games 7 days a week.

I question city and school officials who want to play on Saturdays, how do promising athletes have the time to travel to potential colleges for their visits during a college game if they're playing High School football games on Saturday.
