If you could go back...
If you could go back and sit through one UAB game, any sport, in all your time as a blazer fan which would it be? Game day experience/road trip can also be included if you want.

As a younger fan, mine would probably be the Kentucky game in 2007 where Vaden went off in the second half. It was my birthday weekend and my family and I went up to Louisville for the game and had a blast. Also got a picture with Vaden after the game.

I’ll pick a less talked about game, UAB-Cincinnati game when a James Bristow tip in at the buzzer beat a highly ranked Bob Huggins team. The tip in may/may not have been a bit after after the buzzer, but no replay at that time. Huggins lost his mind.

Really hard to pick but here are a couple:

1. Columbus, Ohio. 2004. What a weekend. Hoosiers meets The Hangover.

2. UAB-UK in Coleman Coliseum, 1981. UAB wins and goes to the Sweet Sixteen. We were at the UAB-WKU game in Tuscaloosa two days before but my Dad was too cheap to spring for the UK tickets too. Love to watch that game live.

I’ll go with the UAB/ Indiana game in the NCAA tournament up in Nashville. I would love to see Bobby Knight lose his mind.

Standing in Coleman watching UAB win over UAT and then walking around listening to their fans rant afterward. Seeing the coaches afterwards running into Alan Ogg afterwards as he celebrated as a fellow spectator.
Hands down the most enjoyable win in my three decades plus of being a UAB fan. Far from the most important win. Just most satisfying.

I miss the entire Bartow era. We had compelling rivals and rivalries then.

I wish I would have attended that fb game when Ruben Studdard was performing. 05-hide

Honestly, I haven't been to much UAB games much. I went to fb games when the team was returned and a couple of bb games (BHMjam and the Auburn game last year).

RE: If you could go back...
Since I’m 26, I haven’t witnessed much of anything too great in basketball that i can remember real well and same goes for football to an extent. You can see why I’m impatient AF with basketball.

I had all session tickets for the cusa basketball tournament for the 2014-15 season, literally one of the best weekends of my life. Would have been exact opposite if UAB went one and done.

Football- Every road game I’ve been to vs USM, we’ve won. Always been fun to cut the dead weight from our home games and go on the road with the real diehard UAB fans that actually get invested in the games. CUSA football championship last season. The return game in 2017, we’ll never witness another gameday atmosphere like that again, not as long as we stay in this conference.

Basketball: Iowa State game in 2015. Still the only NCAA tournament game I’ve attended.

Kentucky in Tuscaloosa #1. Virginia the following year #2. At both games. UAT there maybe #3. I know its only the NIT but historic first and only meeting. Loved being cussed by Bama fans leaving their gym. Lol.

Relive a game I went to: UAB hosting BYU and the "seventeen and ONE" chant.

A game I didn't attend: UAB vs. Kentucky with the Taylor twins' pass, Mo Finley's shot and Ashley Judd crying.

Someone wrote these alternate lyrics to the UAB Fight Song shortly after that game.

Quote:
We're the Green and Gold from Birmingham,
who made Ashley Judd blue.
Ralph Sampson and Virginia, got ripped a new one too.
And in the snows of '93, we stomped on UAT!
So, Go Blazers, Go Blazers!
Win fo U-A-B!!!

I wasn't around in the 80s so I missed that basketball run. Of games I've attended in person, I'd say:

Basketball: 2006 game against Memphis at Bartow. Coached by Calipari and they were #3 going into that game.

Football: Either The Return game in 2017 against Alabama A&M or the Boca Raton bowl.

I would go back to Coach Clark's first game and try to warn him early about the impending actions about to be taken against his program.
