We are loyal, we are blue, we're the class of '72. Undefeated (before playoffs) NWSC Champs! Coach Mike Kunkel's first HC season.

Kunkel is a legend. Business teacher Mr.Stephenich used to talk about him. I was 06 with Mohapp, we only lost to Stevenson and Maine South, both games by a point. Played with future NIU WR Marcus Lewis, Marvin Bembry and Mitchell Moore.

IHSA Hall of Fame Coach Kunkel is battling prostate cancer but hanging in there. He will be at the game tonight with basketball coach Rick Pierce.

Hopefully the McNulty can win one for Kunkel!

Do you remember Chuck Ramsey? That legend provided us some amazing teams as well.

Go Devils!!!
Ramsey was my Sophmore year bball coach. He motivated me to run distance in Track and cross country which was a good move as my bball skills were suspect. We ran what our Cross coach called the Kunkel loop in cross since he lived in the subdivision we ran in at times. Class of 82 had a decent football team also. Go Blue Devils

Was Dawson the headcoach for track then?

Congrats to Jordan Lynch for coaching Mount Carmell to winning the 7A state title. How did Justin Lynch look as starting QB?

I know of Chuck through Rick Pearce. But, I was long gone before he coached at Warren. I had Tait and Kunkel for football, Filmore and Gordon for basketball and Shelton for baseball (his son just became MLB Pirates Mgr). Pretty good memory for almost 50 years ago! I do remember the track/CC coaches mentioned in the thread too.

He just ran. Him and RB. Crappy weather. He threw a pick 6. Nearly threw one last week until he sprinted 70 yards the other way to tackle the guy, through blocks. Saved td, they then got int.

The QB for Nazereth going to Michigan (only a jr) looked worse. Part weather, part pressure. Good scrambler.

RB for MC is a stud, jr. No idea who is looking at him. Never seen a kid at that level fight for the extra yard, every time, and usually get it. 6'0 200.

I watched parts of several championships games today and the RB for Mount Carmel was one of the most impressive. Just found out he is a junior with 1 offer: NIU COGS

Hope we land him because we were the first and stuck with him. Though I am sure other offers will come

The 7a and 8a games were on at a party I was at yesterday, and everyone was bitching and laughing at the picture quality.

Strictly due to the heavy mist....not all cameras were affected. .south end zone camera worked fine. The west side cameras faced directly into the wind and mist.

Announcers mentioned several times how the camera men/women wiped the lenses in between shots...
Those camera people worked all 8 games . Tough job

Most accurate and realistic post regarding the situation. It's not as easy as people think for the camera personnel to keep wiping the lense, especially when there is a mist and gusty breezes. In addition, the cameras constantly in use means they probably heat up a little so when combined with the cooler air, it naturally fogs over. Seriously people, you don't think the people doing the game wanted to provide a sub-par product? Perhaps NIU could ask about helping or providing a solution be it be it an extended canopy, risers so that the cameras are pointing down.

Cameras are on the roof of the press box—-riser would not help. Wind was coming from the east and when the mist got to the west side rose right up and over coating the cameras. View from sky box was hampered also
