Anyway, today, Chase Audige's Northwestern team lost to Iowa -- who feature last year's Kareem Abdul Jabbar winner Luke Garza. I know what the public, loyal answer would always be ....but I wonder what the true answer would be if Chase was asked "who is better, Garza or Knight?".
Watching Chase and Robbie Beran in the big dance in a couple years is gonna be gutting. Two players on my "what could have been" list. Who else in recent memory belongs on that list? Pemberton and Kaleb Johnson, I suppose.

Northwestern has been to the Dance once in its history. This year, according to Sagarin, they're 13th(!) in the Big 10. I don't see them Dancing any time soon.

Then I think he should transfer.

W&M Pro Basketball means just that. If y'all want to punish yourselves about players who didn't want to be at W&M, start a thread in the OT section. Please.

Nate was not on the active roster for the Hawks game last night. As a two-way player, he is limited to 50 active NBA roster games. Believe he has used up 13 of that limit to date. Unfortunately, their G-League team is not participating in the G-League bubble season, currently in preparation for Disney Orlando. $500,000 entry cost, plus all team expenses, so, some teams have opted out.

Nate on the bench tonight and visible on ESPN, but no action. One of the more worthy NBA games I've seen in a while. Hawks missed game winner at buzzer.

Agreed! I tuned in looking for Nate and watched the whole 4th quarter. I lost interest in the NBA years ago, but if you promised me more games like last night’s Mavs-Hawks game I’d watch much more often.

Maybe they should have given the last shot to Nate. He won two games for us that way ....

But only because the Hawks didn't have Ollie Tot on their bench as well...

Hawks fired Lloyd Pierce. I can't tell you the last time Knight logged a minute. Atlanta sent him to the G League a few days ago.

Hope Nathan gets another opportunity. It is a mixed bag. Getting a chance to play regularly is better, but not getting to be with the Hawks and the likely difference in pay is not. Most likely practice time is greatly limited at the NBA level right now due to COVID restrictions. I was hoping that he might see the court more with Hunter's injury, but they don't play the same position and he hasn't gotten the chance. Still hoping he gets a real shot to log some significant minutes this season at some point.

IMO, this season has been a success for Nathan. He got some run in games that were not already decided, he got to practice against NBA players regularly, and got a little fan love as well. Going back to the G League to get more reps in game situations is not a bad thing, it's where we thought he'd be all season.

He's on a two-way deal, so he has to spend at least 22 of the 72 games down in the G-League (under this year's rules you can be up for 50 out of 72 games; it used to be a maximum of 45 days up). I know Nate has played in 10, but I don't know how many he's been active for.

Active for 24/34 games so far.
Also, co-signed that any of Nate's minutes at all, even in garbage time, have been gravy. He's a fringe prospect who doesn't have his pick of the litter, and the Hawks have a very crowded frontcourt. Gallinari, their highest-paid player, comes off the bench, and their #6 pick gets DNP-CDs--I probably wouldn't have played Nate a single minute if I ran the team. Compare with Nate Darling and Grant Riller (who was actually drafted), neither of whom have even been active for the Hornets despite the fact that there's only four other guards on the roster.
John Collins might get traded before the deadline, but even then the Hawks are still probably an injury away from playing Nate seriously.

RE: W&M - Pro Basketball
Makes sense to get the 22 games out of the way. Atlanta is either going to be in the playoff hunt (doesn't look so good) or out of it at the end of the season. If the new coach doesn't set a fire under them, it may be a downward slide. Either way Knight could be needed for valuable depth at the end or get PT due to the need to see how the new/young players look for next season.

One of the few good things to come from the pandemic. Same thing in the NFL where more practice squad players were kept and they got more playing time filling in for players held out in the "protocol."
COVID has turned "protocol" into a dirty word.

Nathan Knight has joined Mason Jones (HOU), Jae'Sean Tate (HOU) and Facundo Campazzo (DEN) as one of four undrafted rookies to score at least 15 points in a game this season.
