"Under the modified rules for the 2020-21 season, Knight will receive $449,155 on a Two-Way contract and he can be active with the Hawks for up to 50 games, with Atlanta able to have Two-Way players active for a maximum of 80 games total between the two slots"

That's a fine salary one year out of college.

Is that the biggest NBA player contract for a W&M grad?

Without a doubt. Marcus was a 2nd round pick, but the Celtics renounced his draft rights before signing a contract. He signed a respectable 10 day contract with the Cavs 3 years later for $46K according to Sporttrac

Thornton's a good example of how Knight is potentially much better off undrafted. As Thornton was drafted, the Celtics never had to sign him to a real contract as they held his rights regardless. They stashed him overseas in Australia, but he played poorly there and Boston lost interest. As a free agent, the Hawks actually had to give Knight a real contract to get him.

Likely not much of a pathway to getting minutes with Atlanta given their logjam of young talent in their frontcourt, but a good opportunity to play in the G League and show what he can do against pro talent.

Almost certainly not fully guaranteed. It's possible some part of it is.

Wikipedia has an interesting (and possibly accurate) discussion of two-way contracts: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-way_contract

He'll end up getting most of it -- value does fluctuate between when he's in the G-league and the NBA. But given covid rules changes for this year I'd imagine he'll spend a good amount of time up with the big boys.

RE: Nate Knight
eBay.com. Search Nathan Knight rookie card. Then click on the Best Match bar (upper right) and switch it to "Price + Shipping - lowest first". That will give you the lowest price cards first, instead of trying to look through all the listings.

You may bid or buy outright for a bit more. Some bidders select autobid with a ceiling amount, so don't be surprised if you bid only to be immediately outbid. I purchased 10 at a low price and will probably put 8 of them up for auction just to watch y'all go savage.
