He’s leading the wolves with 6 points in 8 minutes.

His scoring really dried up after the first 8 minutes. Defense and rebounding were strong

Knight not getting many NBA minutes as of late, but caught this in his ESPN profile
"News: 21 hours ago Knight totaled 33 points (11-21 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-8 FT), 12 rebounds, four blocks, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes during Friday's 107-103 win over the Oklahoma City Blue.
Spin: Knight completely dominated during his first appearance with Iowa this season, finishing with game highs in points, rebounds and blocks. Shortly after the contest, he was transferred back to the NBA club."

Nate's in a tough spot, at least in professional basketball speaking. He is unable to crack the line up in the NBA, but seems to be playing above the G league level. Not advocating for Nate to give up on his dreams, but he's in a position that he could demand top dollar from top European pro franchises. I don't know Nate's contract, but top players in the better euro leagues are paid more than two way G-Leaguers.

Like all two-way players, Nate is making $462,000 this year. That is, I'm confident, more than he would make playing anywhere else. As long as there is NBA money to be had, I suppose he'll keep taking it.

Maybe. Not sure where Nate would slot in or if these numbers are current with the troubled world economy, but there are a number of euro leagues teams where the average salary was north of that $462k number. Of course, there is something to be said to have an easier shot at a call up and staying stateside playing in the G league

IMO, there's still an advantage to being in the building as long as he's continuing to prove he's better than the G League. Someone gets hurt, something weird happens... being around means that people think of you as an NBA player not as something else.
I watched the highlights of that G League game. Nate was out to prove a point that he was an NBA player in the G League and it showed. He did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.

Averages are dragged up in the Euros just like the NBA, which has a ~$10M average but a median of around $4M due to the outlier superstars. Same in Europe, where you get a few guys who could be NBA players making millions but the bench guys (which Nate would be in the top leagues) making a few hundred thousand.
As noted, in this role you're mainly waiting for a stud you sit behind (like Karl-Anthony Towns) to get injured for your chance to showcase yourself and really cash in. The problem is at 24 you're generally deemed to have limited potential left to fulfill and only get kept around as a potential immediate contributor. Has Nate shown enough to be looked at that way? Remains to be seen.

This is all just speculative, because we just don't know. I don't think you can just assume Nate would come off the bench in the top leagues. I looked up the top money makers in the euroleagues - focused mainly on the Americans. I know there is more to defining good basketball, but for simplicity sake I focused on scoring only. I also know that non-US players have more value since there are limits placed on Euro teams. But, I was curious to see the production of guys in the top euro leagues that had a cup of coffee in the NBA.

#2 Shane Larkin (3.7mil) the former Miami star averaged about 5.5ppg in his 4 years in the NBA. Averaging 11ppg in his time in Turkey. https://www.proballers.com/basketball/pl...ane-larkin
#5 Jan Vesely (2.3mil) averaged 4ppg in the NBA. Averaging around 10ppg in his 8 years since. https://www.proballers.com/basketball/pl...jan-vesely
#6 Walter Tavares (2mil) averaged 2.5ppg over 13 games in the NBA. Averaging about 10ppg in his time in Spain. https://www.proballers.com/basketball/pl...er-tavares
#9 Cory Higgins (1.8mil) the Colorado product averaged a little over 3ppg in his 43 NBA games. Averages around 11ppg in his current Barcelona contract.
https://www.proballers.com/basketball/pl...ry-higgins
This is just the top 10 salaries. There are many more Americans making in the $500k plus range.
Nate Knight, in his young career, has performed as well or better than each of these guys listed at the NBA level. His G league time is minimal, but dominant. I agree that being a two way player works best for the quick NBA call up and the huge $$'s that come with it. But, if the call ups are less frequent, he leaves a lot of dollars on the table staying in the G league.

Whether he is a stud in Europe is certainly debatable, but to say he'd be a bench guy seems farther fetched IMO.

At this point it would seem that Nate's NBA future hinges on the team that gives him his next opportunity. Being on a team with a young All-Star caliber center doesn't leave a lot of minutes for big's on the bench.
I don't follow the NBA much, but from what I hear on the radio in charlotte, the Hornets could use Nate.

Whether he is a stud in Europe is certainly debatable, but to say he'd be a bench guy seems farther fetched IMO.
There are a lot of very very accomplished NBA alums, who played a lot of minutes, on benches in Europe despite being in their twenties or early thirties--OJ Mayo, Kenneth Faried, Anthony Randolph, Troy Daniels, Quincy Acy, Yogi Ferrell, Jeremy Evans, Joffrey Lauvergne, Sergey Karasev, Mindaugas Kuzmingas are some who aren't regular starters for some of the top teams. Not all those guys make a million.
The guys you listed didn't achieve much NBA success but they all played more/occupied a higher status than Nate has thus far (except Tavares--no idea what happened with him). Nate has been good in his play but it is has been very limited and it's not going to be a surprise if he doesn't get another NBA contract. If he were that valued, he wouldn't be a two-way guy. We'll see what happens with him over the summer.
For comparison, Marcus Thornton is a top player on one of the bottom teams in the German league, which is probably somewhere in the middle of Europe in terms of its competitive level. I'm guessing he makes a few hundred thousand. Nate is a better player and theoretically should occupy a higher level. But I'm guessing if he had some giant offer out of Europe, his agent would tell him to take it.

RE: W&M - Pro Basketball
I think a lot of the Euroleagues also have limits on how many Americans can be on their rosters, so it's not always super easy to get spots.
Players like Tarpey who have dual citizenship can prove extra valuable for that reason. I think David Cohn also has Israeli citizenship, which is why he plays over there.

RE: W&M - Pro Basketball
I am in Minneapolis for a trade show this week. The Twolves play the Suns tomorrow night.
Anyone have intel on whether or not Nathan might play tomorrow?
I am not an NBA fan, but would love to see Nathan play.
I saw David Robinson and Steph Curry both play in the NBA, Nathan is the only other guy that I have interest in seeing play in person.
I attended 20 conference tournament and NCAA tournament games this season, so I don't really need a hoops fix, but when I else would I get to see Nathan play?

Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid are both healthy as of now, so I doubt he plays, though it's possible he gets some mop-up duty.

Nathan Knight is a free agent again. Nathan needs to find a team that will give him regular minutes. Good luck to him.

Daniel Dixon posted on social media that he is leaving Charlotte to take a spot on the staff of Oklahoma City's G-League squad. Congrats Daniel on your path towards professional coaching.
