JMU has nearly 500 student athletes. Have the other sport coaches ask their players to support the team, and bring a friend or two.

Maybe it wouldn't bring 3000 on a weeknight, but something like that could create buzz and generate some student support.

There you go again being proactive and using all the resources.

Well, it WOULD be nice to see the MBB players come out to support the women’s team. I see a couple of guys there from time to time that I assume are members of the men’s team—at least they are immensely tall—but the entire team doesn’t show up for important games the way they do at Tennessee or even little D2 Carson-Newman (which was 5 minutes down the road from me in Tennessee). And the women’s teams, needless to say, returned the favor.

You know, I can't blame a bunch of kids for not seeing the big picture and understanding how much that could mean to the WBB team. However, there is this guy some of you call "GOAT" and have insisted on retaining despite only winning 30 D1 games in three years that (allegedly) these kids look up to and he could probably "lead" them in the direction of attending. However, leading and coaching have a lot of similarities and his record shows he's not so good at the latter.

No, really, all hyperbole aside, if Coach Rowe says "hey guys, go to the WBB game", that's all it SHOULD take.

Yep, goes for FB, Volleyball, LAX, etc. Only reason not is if you are in a competition yourself, in class, or "in the books".

Agreed.....I am all about supporting your own......if other athletic teams cannot come out to support other student athletes, they should never make one peep about attendance at their games.

the MBB players are often at the girls games, so I don't think we have to concern ourselves there.

I see two or three. I guess they don't sit together in a block the way they do at UT and C-N.

Thank you Deez. I live over 3 hours away and have made it to multiple men’s and women’s games. Not as many as the WBB super-fans on here for sure, but even I have noticed players from the men’s team at each women’s game. A little common sense might go a long way in this discussion too. No one knows the schedule of the men’s players- what other responsibilities they have etc. It’s unfair to criticize or chastise them for not being at a game as a spectator. Beyond that, should we really care if they attend or not? I don’t think so.

I don't think anyone was really criticizing as much as saying if possible this would be a great opportunity for the other athletic programs (if possible) to turn out and really 'beat the drum' and support the women's team.

Agreed. The time demands on college S-A's are tremendous. From mandatory study periods to practices to strength & conditioning sessions to team travel and the list goes on. I think the S-A's are pretty good about attending other team's events whenever they can. Also, particularly in the spring, there are multiple team events going on most any day on campus. For example, perhaps some members of the football and MBB teams are able to head over to VMP to watch the softball Dukes today but can't make it to the WBB game due to other time demands. We as fans should understand that and not make any kind of derogatory comments or create any inferences about their possible absence...again, agreeing with you I don't think that is the case here generally speaking, though I think it was getting close.
