35 percent is a solid starting base when you only need 50 percent + 1. None of the other candidates has it.

It is all relative to who your opposition is. The Democrats will need independents and moderate Republicans to win. Folks want a viable alternative to Trump.

You will not get them with a socialist candidate or platform. Run a socialist and Michigan, Wisconsin, PA and others all go with Trump. Re-run McGovern '72.

And I am not a Trump man. Wrote-in Kasich in 2016. Right now, I like Howard Schultz. He's better than any of the current Dem candidates. They only one out there who could actually win.

Pull your head out of the progressive koolaid and look at the big picture. What is the best way to beat Donald Trump when the economy is strong and everyone who wants a job can find one? 2020 is not the election to fall on your ideological sword.

All that socialist talk is just that, republican talking points. As I have said before there are several socialistic programs in America right now. Heading the list Social Security. The economy will not be the only thing people will be deciding for whom to vote. If, that were the case in the last mid-terms, why did the democrats take control of the House of Representatives?

Everyone knows those statistics. You obviously missed the point I was making. That if the economy was so important, why didn't Mr. Trump's side do better in the mid-terms? Remember, statistics are for losers.

In terms of popular vote, the 2016 mid term defeat was the largest defeat in history. Topping the 1974 margin after Nixon’s resignation.

During an expanding economy.

Trump gets credit from the Republicans for the stock market going up the past couple years, as if it hadn't been going up the previous 8 years as well.

The market and the economy in general tend to boost when investors at all levels believe restrictions, and regulations upon free market will become reduced, rather than increased. Democrats tent to favor regulations, restrictions, more rules, and mindless interference with industry and enterprise. People are far more likely to invest in a market when they trust that the government is less likely to produce barriers to profitability. Any republican president would have likely seen an upswing in the economy, but Trump, as much as I don't like him as a human being, does send loud messages that he will do everything he can to free up enterprise. That helps. Pulling the US out of the Paris Climate agreement is an example. It was a ballsey move, and it made a loud statement.

Trump also is a genius at protecting his wealth and making money while having fun.

An example of this is in his golf outtings:

He is almost beating OBama's record of $97,000,000 for vacation time. Trump will definitely win that one since OBama's was over an eight year period whereas Trump has another year to complete his four year term.

The market went up for 8 straight years with Obama as president. Nothing more needs to be said.
