RE: President dumb*** Lying his Ass off in GR!
Social media comment threads and memes have replaced newspapers. 24/7 cable news channel "pundits" have replaced (nearly) non-partisan news journalists.

And we can see it in both major parties. The GOP with the rise of the alt-right and Trumpism. And on the left, Bernie and now AOC shot to socialist rock star status. Moderates be damned.

Slogans. Fist-waving rants. Simpleton solutions to complex issues. Populism. My way or the highway. Demonize 'other' demographics. Identity politics on steroids. Rile up the crowd.

Barack Obama was a good president, and John McCain would've been a good one too. See, that statement in itself will get you more vilified with each passing year. Can't say anything positive about the Other. Biden is blasted for saying something nice about a Republican colleague. "RINO" Jeff Flake chased out of office for questioning Trump. We're running toward ideologically pure corners now.

Couldn't agree more, though his lies should have come home to roost long before now, if they were going to.

Actually, we don't know. None of us have seen the report nor the redacted copy that will be released. I would like to read and make my own assessment rather than a political appointee spoon feeding me.

We have to accept the work of an appointee who voiced the identical position prior to being appointed. So we have to believe that Mr Barr digested 300 pages and 2 years of effort in 48 hours. I am dubious that is true. Perhaps he is right. For the sake of the country I hope so. I would hate to find our president colluded against this nation.

I also find it peculiar that the tweet meister basically went silent for those 48 hours. I find that more telling than Mr Barr's summation.

However, until the report is released we don't know anything.

Agree. Those ideologically pure corners will be the death of this nation in my view.

Wish the Democrats had a viable moderate candidate. I guess Biden would be harmless enough. At least he'd approach the office with some integrity and dignity and I'll probably vote for him as a middle-of-the-spectrum guy. Both the far left and right disgust me.

RE: President dumb*** Lying his Ass off in GR!
The Far Right: Climate change is fake. Any government effort to provide for people is wasteful and actually makes people more lazy and helpless than simply allowing them to face the dangers of poverty alone. Taxation is equivalent to theft. America was made for and by white people and people who aren't white should slowly be deported to create a white ethno-state. The US military is entitled to violate human rights abroad because this is what is needed to keep us safe. Campaign contributions are speech, and any attempt to limit political giving is an unconstitutional effort to limit speech. Employers and corporations should be able to shape the economy and how it works. Government should cut regulations and taxes in order to maximize corporate profits, this way they will hire people and give them jobs.

Center: Better things than the status quo are not realistic. Donald Trump is bad. We should get rid of him, so we can return to the status quo of the Clinton/Bush/Obama years.

The Far Left: Climate change is a real and present threat to our safety and demands big, bold action. Racism is real and threatens people's safety and limits their opportunity, this also demands action. Too much wealth and power has accrued into very few hands. Government and workers should take action to create a more equal distribution of wealth. Government should provide baseline human needs like education, healthcare, food, and shelter to every single person. The US military should not violate human rights abroad, this actually threatens our safety because it creates enemies. Unlimited campaign contributions to politicians pull our government toward wealthy people and interest groups and away from ordinary voters. Through unions, government intervention, and worker-owned co-operatives, the economy should be shaped by the people who live and work within it.

I think the left is the political camp with the policies that are most responsive to the problems people face in their lives and the most informed by reality. Climate change is a catastrophic threat. Racism is a powerful force in US history and is absolutely alive and well. The middle class is hanging by a thread, living under conditions that, if they were proposed in Europe, would cause riots in the streets. Mass shootings, global warming, gofundme's for medical costs, a trillion bucks in student loan debt, rotting infrastructure, structural racism, a bought political system, a rise in far-right violent hate groups, these are the problems we face and to me it seems like the far-left is the only camp that is actually interested in solving them with a sense of urgency.

Dear HaymondAtThe4,
I agree with what you have said, and especially the urgency of many of the problems you have put forth.

I am a Vietnam era grad. I didn't trust the government then and don't trust it now. The link is disingenuous as Mueller and associates cannot speak out, no matter what is said. This was true before the report was released and is also true now that he submitted it. Like I've always said, you and everyone else is welcome to believe what you choose but that does not make it either right nor wrong.

Great.

You are for LESS government then?

Because if your answer to that question is "no"

People might accuse you of being disingenuous

Oh

Yeah

That's right.

People in those positions NEVER leak what they want the public to know....

Putting aside the fact that you ignored my question.

Let's review what Glenn Greenwald (the guy you called disingenuous) actually said:

On the last-gasp conspiracy theory of the collusion dead-enders to keep the flock hooked: that William Barr is materially misrepresenting the Mueller report & Mueller and his entire team are just remaining quiet & not objecting about this wholesale distortion of their work:

"Mueller and his entire team"

You've reduced his quote to:

Quote:Do you have an example of a Mueller leak?

Who's being disingenuous?

I can't

But

To be ckear

Given your understanding of how our government ("that you don't trust") works

It's your position that Mueller and his entire team is more likely than not to keep silent while Barr distorts their conclusions?

And

Given the reasoning you use to justify your position

Give me an example of Donald Trump colluding with, or conspiring with the Russians.

From the unapologetically left-leaning journalist Matt Taibbi

Quote:The most telling section, quoted directly from Mueller’s report, read:
“[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.”

In making this determination, we noted that the Special Counsel recognized that “the evidence does not establish that the President was involved in an underlying crime related to Russian election interference,” and that, while not determinative, the absence of such evidence bears upon the President’s intent with respect to obstruction…

Mueller told anyone who wanted to know and was paying attention where this was at every step through indictments and court hearings. He didn’t leak, if he had we wouldn’t be clamoring for the report.

He could not say anything during the investigation or now. This was not a fully independent counsel. He had oversight.

As far as the negative logic about an example? Let’s wait until we see the full report, shall we? Any reason why not?

The Russian matter has no bearing on my Trump feelings. 100% unqualified, 100% fraud, 100% liar. Just a flawed, likely mentally ill, “man”. He has not one admirable characteristic. Can’t believe he’s pulled the wool over the eyes of so many sheep.

If ess will reread what I said instead of interpreting it through his politically colored glasses he will note I never said there was collusion. ALL I said was that none of us know anything about the report Mueller submitted ... other than what Mr Barr summarized. Perhaps this will help make it clearer https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/atto...od62SG0_FI
