AAF in Trouble...again
https://sports.yahoo.com/aaf-chairman-sa...26633.html
AAF chairman Tom Dundon said without being able to use NFL players, the league could fold.

Seems like the gameplan was to become minor league NFL and it's not working

Sounds like they were in such a Rush to hit the market before the XFL that they didn't think everything thru.

Perfect comment on this story, from the comment section in this Deadspin article:

Something about this league is smelling fishier and fishier as the weeks pass.

How was their economic and player acquisition model not better thought out before they got going?

How did they really need that loan by Dundon?

I'd feel sure Dundon doesn't drop $250M without some thought, especially a year after buying the Hurricanes. And his loan puts him as controlling interest owner in the league?

He hasn't actually invested $250MM - that's a hypothetical maximum he's willing to invest. I assume his actual out-of-pocket is much smaller.

But this episode is farcical. The NFL has no investment in the AAF. I'm not sure that anyone other than those being paid by the AAF can feel remotely at risk as a result of this "threat".

I am going out on a limb here, but I think that this is a league that had good intentions, but not enough good backing. There really is no TV deal and who really wants to see football all year round. Now the XFL will be entertainment that's for sure and it might or might not last. That is yet to be seen.

Great quote from Rodger Sherman on today's AAF folding about how the league's players, coaches & staff were doing great work but ultimately "a few rich dudes got into petty feuds that killed the league"

A shame. I enjoyed the AAF product but now the ball is in the XFL's court...

Nice troll tweet by the XFL earlier today. Shame about the AAF though, I was curious how Johnny Football was gonna do with Memphis.

As the world turns, these are the days of our lives.

Honestly, if I hadn't have heard this on the radio this morning about this rumor I wouldn't have even searched for articles when I got home. But.... just very interesting.
