RE: 2020 Official Verbal Thread
Dustin Fletcher was the guy I hoped would commit. He throws well and can run well. Our offense just got better. MSU does not have a QB commitment yet. Hopefully, one of the other QBs will commit soon so we can breath a little easier.

RE: 2020 Official Verbal Thread
I have limited access to ESPN rankings. I shall list what recruits they have ranked overall in order. In some cases they have different position assignments. I shall also include their nat'l position rankings: Dustin Fletcher QB #39, Jevyon Drucker RB #89, Evan Buss #11 OC, Cody Kopp OLB #34, Ivan Davis #128 DE, Tyker Pitcel #128 OT, Jake Novotny #40 TE, John Champe # 121 OG, C.J. Brown #90 S, Daereen Raymer OLB #113, and Devonte Smith #137 OLB. The first ten are rated 3* and the last guy is 2*. The rating that jumped out to me was Cody Kopp's rating listing. The 2 guys behind him are committed to UCLA and Iowa. These were the only NIU commits listed on their site. I shall update as needed.

Not that ratings matter, but, Fletcher's 247 rating has been adjusted/increased to .8546 composite (#25 DUAL QB).

Wisconsin has more than half the population of IL with only 1 scholarship football program. Recruiting that state hard makes alot of sense because few other programs do . Iowa however has sstarted to in a big way so will be interesting to see how that changes things going forward

Coach Moore tweeted a couple of hours ago that "We got better today." Is this a new commit or just a post on kids working out?

The hashtag after the tweet is #2019, indicating 2019 class, not 2020.

Yeah, and not necessarily "2019 (recruiting) class" but 2019 TEAM.

If it is 2019, why can they not say more in tweet? Can't they sign immediately and thus be known to all? I know they can't mention verbal commits by name but if practice starts in 3-4 weeks, they are pretty much on board at this point.

That is what I meant. I have been very impressed by his very aggressive pursuit in filling out this class. He knows who is leaving and is replacing them with HIS kind of guys. Excellent strategy.

By the time he is done, I bet half the 2019 class will be his own recruits, even though he came in late!

That's what I was trying to clarify by stating that the tweet was likely not referencing the 2019 recruiting class but rather the 2019 team as a whole. In other words, I think he was just expressing his approval of the team's attitude and progress as it relates to taking in coaching, practicing hard, and getting better.

I doubt that, but if you’re right Hammock has a back up plan. Also Michigan State is overrated.

If MSU continues to have zero QB's committed as they do now, I could see a last minute offer and flip to MSU. Doesn't help that they landed only one moderately rated qb in 2019 as well.

247 Sports finally gave John Champe a rating. He has a rating of .7698. Now they have to do their homework on Cody Kopp.

NIU followers do not have premium memberships with these sites. For Rivals, we do not have a website. A few MAC schools do. Thus, many of the recruits in Wisconsin are not rated properly. This is definitely to our benefit as we have had many great players from wisconsin.

I definitely think Ohio high schools are scouted a lot better and harder than say a Wisconsin, so they get more opportunities to have a scout bump them up to a 3 or 4 star. Keep doing what we're doing.
