Duke submitted fraudulent test results to get federal research grants. Has to pay $112 million to government.

RE: Fraud by Duke costs them $112 million
We’ve reached a point that the “academic” community is now about as corrupt and sleazy as gambling/prostitution/drugs. Nothing that comes out of that world (university students, admin, faculty) surprises me anymore.

The only edge they have going for them — it’s a powerful edge, to be sure — is that people believe they cannot have a decent job/career without a scroll of paper. And the universities have a monopoly on those scrolls of paper. A monopoly that they will carefully protect to the death.

It’s a heavy lift, and will probably take a generation to find the answer. But if anyone can find a way to work around that monopoly, the “scholastic” world would come Crashing down in about 5 minutes.

If we ended tax-payer subsidization of tuition via guaranteed student loans we'd start to see the "price" of that education drop.

There's corruption from the Admissions Department all the way to Research and Athletics.

I hope they don't do climate change research at Duke?

And maybe they paid someone to arrest Avennatti before they got sucked into the Nike scandal. They are sponsored by Nike.
