This sucks. But I get why the NCAA denied it. If Hudson's argument is that he had undocumented mental health issues, wouldn't every kid claim that going forward?

Not saying I don't believe him, but this would literally open the floodgates for free agency.

Yes, Martell and Fields waivers seem sketchy on the surface, too, but they're not leading to free agency like Hudson's potentially would. This sucks.

Wait...what? How are Martell and Fields waivers better? They literally left because they weren't going to start at QB. They are the definition of transfer free agency, but they went to high profile schools so they get cleared.

Fields has a bit more documented ground to stand on...Martell getting his and Hudson not getting his is utterly hilarious.

Hudson not getting a waiver and Fields getting one is a crock of ****. Fields excuse is very weak when his sister signed a LOI after the incident he used as a basis for transferring. The NCAA is a joke.

Martell and Fields waivers 100% lead to free agency.

This sucks. I just wish the rules were even, UC needs to grow some balls and foght the NCAA harder

I think they will. I don't know all the rules with appeals, but it sounds like UC can state a case for reconsideration and if that fails, they can go through a formal appeal process.

The NCAA is increasingly becoming a joke. If it were the other way around and he was transferring from UC to Michigan, he'd be on fastpassed to immediately playing.

Agreed. But in that case he would be movie about 45 mins from where he grew up. Idk anything about transfer rules but they seem to be granted easier for family or closer to home kids.

And now that I read this. What a bunch of bs. I root for OSU but some kid can just transfer there and play immediately without any reason other than he wasn’t number 1 on the depth chart. Same goes for Martell.

Big school Bias BS

Like I said, the decision sucks - but I can see why the NCAA ruled the way they did.

Fields is sort of a different story. And Martell had the help of OSU, the school he was transferring from. Plus he got an attorney.

Hopefully this shakes out better for Hudson.

I'm not sure the book is closed yet on Hudson for 2019, unless there is information regarding his case that can't be shared publicly. My hope is that UC presses the matter further with the NCAA.

Considering the amount of national media types that have picked up on it (including Herbstreit and Bilas), I'm guess the NCAA is going to start feeling some pressure here...if they care about that or not is a completely different story though.

Football Season
Someone shared a quote from Fickell talking about how most transfer waivers should be granted assuming the school where the student was transferring from was cooperative, and he went in to state that his intention was to help players transferring from UC to be able to play immediately.

I doubt schools like Michigan will cooperate accordingly. But hopefully the NCAA will move to make an exception here.

One would think that Michigan would want to assist since we are playing the Sucknuts this year. An early season loss to the Bearcats would keep the Columbus school out of the playoff talk.

Has Herbstreit said anything more other than his tweet? His comments were pretty tame, couldn't tell if he supported the NCAA's decision or not. Bilas was definitely vocal about the screw job from the NCAA.

All of this. I have absolutely no clue what the OP is talking about. Martell and Fields were the biggest free agent scams I've seen in college sports.

Also, I believe Hudson has been getting help since he transferred to UC back in the fall so there is documented evidence now.

Local radio in Columbus picked up the story today. Not sure if it was mentioned, but it seems that Michigan is to blame for the waiver not being accepted and that there may be a good chance this gets looked at again as it may hurt Harbaugh's recruiting.

I think just by sending it out to his audience, it helps to make situations like this more present. He clearly hedged like crazy, but I think he doesn't agree with the decision..he hasn't sent something like this out for any of the other ones. Hell, the only other NCAA related tweets he sends out are about bringing back the greatest video game of all time (five years of prayers...)
