Agreed, but it’s like that everywhere. Some of these guys probably won’t pan out, and some will. The talent level is still higher than it was before Murphy got here. Murphy the recruiter is fine...Murphy the coach is a different story.

He looks equally confident creating his own shot and catching and shooting, which is a huge plus. Doesn't appear to be a dynamic athlete, but looks like an active, aggressive defender. Should fit well at the top of the zone. Not going to be able to finish at the rim in the MAC like he does in this highlight package, and he doesn't look too confident in his left hand (anytime he went to his left in the video, he pulled up for a jumper almost immediately). It's clear we are bringing him in here to shoot and play defense, which is just fine by me. Has good size for a D1 shooting guard.
Good notes.
When I watch highlights, and I'm very much a layman, I do watch the stroke and how clean the ball goes thru the hoop.
If a player can hit a few from 25 feet and 'nothing but net' it is either good luck or good skill.
So far the big guns in the back court are McAdoo and Moreno, both at SG.
Parris needs to get it done at PG or Murphy better have a good playmaker out there.
So far: Toure' (5), Groce/M Thomas (3), McAdoo/Moreno (2), Parris (1), etc. We have to see if any of the lighter used players transfer.
Big hole at the '4'? Hope Binelli has big shoulders because the '4' is like wide open now...
P.S. also Dillard at SG.
At least we have something that resembles a roster. Murphy needs to think about a 3-guard line up (something like BT, Groce, Parris, Moreno, and a PG). He needs to stop trying to be so long and tall at the expense of putting a good mix of basketball players on the floor. Besides, decent guards are more readily available then a legit big man. Jones and King can help out Toure at the 4/5 positions.
Like others have said, another PG is needed to Ellison. Isn't Parris more of a 2?
I'm still thinking Murphy could please the locals (and sell a few more tickets) by taking a chance on Lincoln's state championship hero, Jalen Fisher. The kid is only about 5'10" but he's super quick. https://www.hudl.com/profile/10425703/Jalen-Fisher. Ice water in his veins on the big stage.
What about those walk-ons? Did any of them show potential?
What about Joe Moon IV?
I’ve never seen him play, or watched any film, but it sounds like another Ellison situation. Hugely successful high school player, but no real offers at this stage? At that size, if you aren’t lightning quick with the ball, or athletic enough to finish at the rim, you probably aren’t going to succeed in the MAC even if you hit shots. Bigger defenders will overwhelm you, and I think that was a big part of Ellison’s problem here.

I’ll tell you, there’s a TON of amazing junior college talent in Texas. You could build a MAC champion with the pool here, assuming you hit on your tier-one targets.
