Quote:HUNTINGTON -- As it stands, future Marshall football schedules read like a Top 10 national poll.
The Thundering Herd merely isn’t treading into BCS conference waters; it’s diving in without abandon. Over the next eight seasons, Marshall is scheduled to face Miami (Fla.), Tennessee, Kansas State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.
This fall’s slate features back-to-back September trips to Ohio State and Georgia. Facing national powers on consecutive weekends might appeal to fans, but it’s not the most prudent scheduling approach, Marshall athletic director Bob Marcum said.
"Scheduling those two back to back can only be done for one reason -- money," said Marcum, whose tenure began after the Buckeyes and Bulldogs were signed to one-game contracts. "I go back to something I said when I first started here, don’t mismatch your resources and don’t overschedule your potential."

Speaking of money. That's what it will take from us fans to take this Program to the next level and stay competitive. I would like to see everyone join the Big Green Foundation and donate money to help pay for scholarships, facilities and other needs. Every penny helps!!

"Marshall ought to be playing WVU," Bailey said. "They should have been playing a long time ago. I look at WVU’s squad and they’re equal to Marshall’s."
At one time I was hoping we could meet WV-who in a rotating home field series. Then I was just hoping for an occasional game against them. Now I couldn't give a hoot if we play them or not. I believe they will need us sooner than we will ever need them.
