It sounds like he genuinely cares for the student athletes and wants to help other ADs too.

Sports gambling in WV isn't Hamrick's 1st rodeo. He spent 7 years as the AD at UNLV before coming home to Marshall. Even before sports gambling was overturned by the Supreme Court Hamrick has had FBI agents come in each semester for the last 3 years and talk about the dangers of gambling and the general pitfalls that gambling could have on an athletic department and athletes. Such as point shaving, faked injuries and other scandals that could happen.

Congrats Herd fans. I watched your AD on 60 minutes. He did a very solid job, and sounded like the adult in the room. You could tell he really cares about the players and this issue. I wish we had an AD a little more "grown up" like that. Our AD looks and acts like a 16-yr old.

clt has a friend who works for 60 mins. After the interview, the Marshall AD took a few cans and bottles and threw them into the hotel lobby fountain. Not cool.

It was kinda simple

Hamrick was told to fire Steve Logan (a few or maybe more big boosters wanted him out).
Hamrick was set to hire Doc Holliday at ECU
Muse blocked the hire and Handcuffed Hamrick
Hamrick forced to hire John Thompson
Hamrick accepts UNLV job 4 months later for less money, just to get out of Greenville and away from that admin
