How is that guy so good...but his teams don't really ever win like they should? He has unreal numbers every game.....

Dedric Lawson is a damn good basketball player ... Just lacks speed and athleticism. Didn't seem to bother Larry Bird so ...
He ain't taking nobody to the promised land but he'll pick up some serious NBA cash.

RE: Dedric
May have won more if they had not lost two starters.

Kansas ended up playing a lot of freshmen, which will bode well for them next year. I would guess Dedric will declare but he is not picked to be a first rounder.

If he returns Kansas will be preseason number one next year, assuming their injured players come back.

RE: Dedric
Dedric is that borderline star.

You feed him, he gives you damn good numbers.

Here's the but.

But he isn't good enough(yet) to get GREAT numbers and GREAT results AND make his teammates BETTER.

That's what GREAT players do.

Not going to say he won't become that type of player though.

He's on the cusp.

Dedric is exceptional offensively...Unfortunately he can be taken advantage of defensively. He is not going to carry a team to the promise land...He will need help but I think he can be the best player on a contender.

He's a very weird player. He's very good, numbers don't lie, but something's missing.

RE: Dedric
Kansas lost 2 of their 3 best players for the season. Azubuike had a knee injury and Legerald Vick went home to Memphis for "personal reasons".

Before they lost those 2 they were a top 5 team. Hard to keep winning big when down two starters who are future pros

RE: Dedric
As someone stated above, he’s not good defensively and bigger guys slow him down. He just don’t make the guys around him better. Doesn’t have that will to win like Martin.

Dedric is winning much bigger than Martin. If anything Martin would fit that example more so than Dedric. That would be my knock on Martin. He was a great player that couldn't get over the hump to the NCAAs.

Kansas lost 2 starters, really high end guys. Then, they slipped. Seems pretty obvious. Dedric had nothing to do with Kansas faltering down the stretch. At least to me.

If Martin is wasn’t in this years team we would not have won 15 games. Dedric was the same when he was here. Didn’t really care. No will to win.

Boo hoo.....he’s still playing with at least 3 other McDonalds AA, the Texas HS player of the year, the Colorado HS player of the year and low level subs like Charlie Moore and KJ Lawson.....it’s not like he’s out there by himself.

I'm not a huge Dedric guy at all, but when Kansas lost these guys, they started losing more often than they did with them. Seems like there may be a correlation there. That's all I'm saying.

01-wingedeagle Exactly how many 4*/5* players did Martin lineup with 01-wingedeagle... to put in perspective, JM had at least 4 JUCO players starting along his side in his final two seasons.....hence, to compare winning of the two is completely asinine

I think the whole Dedric/Martin comparison was a little out of whack. But there it is, if you are going to compare the two, I think Dedric comes out on top.

You really cannot compare results in a team sport without taking other team members into account.

RE: Dedric
Just remember that some people like GP were saying "Memphis fans, how will it feel when you look up and Dedric Lawson is the best player on the number 1 team in the country?" I ask how were we supposed to feel, what was the implied emotion or reaction that we were supposed to have?

And how are we supposed to feel now that that same team faded at the end of the year and lost in the second round of the tournament? If the answer to the first scenario is indifference, then the answer to the second is the same. But, if we were supposed to feel something negative to the first scenario as implied by GP and others, then the answer to the second must be at least a little positive.
