RE: Coaching Rumors
Per Wichita State, Gregg Marshall is one of 10 NCAA coaches to reach 500 wins before the end of his 21st season. The other names on that list? Jim Boeheim, Bob Huggins, Tom Izzo, Billy Donovan, Mark Few, Bill Self, Roy Williams, John Calipari, and Jerry Tarkanian.

Mtxe trolling Memphis about Penny
Why would anyone want Penny right now? He is still unproven and has lots of question marks, and he is at the only D1 school that he will ever coach at. If it works he will stay there forever. If it doesn’t he won’t get a head coaching gig at the D1 level again.
Its not about trolling.

He made the post season.
The problem is that he is a great recruiter. He has to live up to some high expectations. The more burger boys that start enrolling at UM, the smaller the margin of error is.
I want him to succeed. I want him to be greatest coach in UM history. It makes it that much easier for WSU and the rest of the conference to be great.

RE: Coaching Rumors
Vandy would be a great fit for Cronin. His recruiting would be on par with what Vandy could get. His defensive mind would work well there. Plus, just making the tournament with an occasional win means he's got a job with no pressure for life.
It's a definite downgrade from Cincy, but it's definitely not worse than 75% of the AAC.
I'd say the only programs better than Vandy are Memphis, Cincy, UConn, and historically Temple and Houston.
It has just as many NCAA appearances as Wichita State. 6 Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite 8 appearance.
Vandy has put together quite a few good teams in their time and won in the SEC.

Just wondering... SMU gets it's full allotment of scholarships back but will fall to ECU/Tulane level? Am I reading right or just an oversight?
SMU will/should be much better next year and moving forward.

What were the primary causes of the Tigers two wins over WSU this season?
What are your expectations for WSU next season?
What are your expectations for Memphis?

Temple’s new basketball coach, Aaron McKie, has not yet coached a game. That makes him perfect for poaching from Temple.

Even with that lack of experience, I'm willing to bet he would have attacked the basket once beating the press, and switched to man defense against Iowa on Friday like every other coach would have in the free world.

I wish Memphis had experienced success like Cincy under Cronin the past five years. However, Cincy is in a quandary. Cronin has not demonstrated yet the ability to go to the next level and yet it is a risky move replacing him because of the uncertainty his replacement will better perform.

Mick is linked to the Vandy opening, as is Dawkins.
Link or I call BS.
Linked as in name thrown out. No mutual interest that I have seen.
Linked is also a name a coach's agent/attorney likes to throw out hoping that his client's current team offers up a raise/new bonuses to keep them happy where they are (even if they have ZERO actual interest in a particular job...agents will use any and all openings to secure more $$$).

I am not trying to run Cronin out of town, but we need a little juice on the recruiting trail. Cronin is neither over achieving or underachieving with his recruits.
