Besides Tulane's academics in recruiting, how is anyone suppose to recruit decent players when this is what you play in.

If Hunter isn't close to retiring then he will be looking for a new job somewhere in 21 or 22.

Tulane's athletic dpt says it holds 4100. I can tell you for a fact that's incorrect. The voice of the Herd Steve Cotton once counted each seat in there and came up with 3,345. The last time Marshall played there Cotton also counted the people in the arena, in the stands he come up with 214 and over all including workers and the teams would have been less than 500.

The last 4 coaches at Tulane

Mike Dunleavey 3 years 24-69
Ed Conroy 6 years 92-103
Dave Dickerson 5 years 68-84
Shawn Finney 5 years 60-86
---------------------------------
Overall 19 years 244-342

There are some places you just can't win at and Tulane looks to be one of those places.

Have you seen Georgia State's arena? Trust me, Hunter will do just fine with Tulane's facilities.

All things considered, Tulane and the rest of NOLA would probably be fine with a basketball arena on the third floor of a building, just to get it above sea level.

Is Cobb the new Teis?

This is a story straight out of Texas St athletics. Sorry to hear GSU fans, we know the pain of a truly stupid AD. How the eff did App St succeed with this clown around (I guess they didn't beyond football)?

Cobb's hires were almost universally garbage. That's why App struggled so much in every sport after joining the Sun Belt. Now that DG has made some better hires all programs are working their way back up.

Sounds like football succeeded in spite of him

Cobb had no choice but to hire Satterfield, and I think he tried to anyway.

I believe Tulane said the transformation from Fogleman Arena to Devlin Fieldhouse took capacity from 4100 to 3600

I want Tulane to be the AACs version of St Mary's...the private school with a small arena they pack out to make the postseason most years.

Mike Holmes, the associate director of communications at GSU, looks like he's ready to blow. Something ugly went down.

I have. But he didn't have the Tulane academic side to worry about at GA State. Like at Marshall at GA State it looks like all you have to have in a min of 21 on the ACT or min SAT score and the min HS classes passed to be eligible to play. Not the case at Tulane, there you need an ACT score of 27 (30 highest you can get on the ACT) or higher and a maintained 3.4 GPA.

The transfer route that he has used at GA State will all but be gone. Tulane is has the 2nd lowest transfer rate of any college in DI athletics. They simply don't take that many because they think transfers would and maybe could bring their academics down.

The highest you can get on the ACT is a 36, not a 30

RE: Ron Hunter to Tulane
Things to consider.

1) Mike Holmes is the most calm and level-headed person in the whole department. What made him so angry? Is he outraged toward CRH or GSU?
2) Why is Dmarcus Simonds, Hunter's "star" player, defending Cobb? In fact, none of the basketball players are coming out to defend their ex-coach.
3) The players kept saying "it was the toughest year of their lives." Did something happen between the players, coaches, and GSU? Is that why our basketball team's performance during the conference play was so inconsistent? (yall might remember the unexpected blowout loss at home to TXST, going through the motions at Troy, playing terribly at CCU, etc)
4) Some time ago, Cobb said in a memo that he expected Hunter to represent Georgia State with grace and humility. What did that mean? Clash of two big personalities?
5) The connection between Tulane and CRH was basically non-existent. All happened too quickly within 24-48hrs. Did Ron Hunter actually intend to go to Tulane? or did he leak Tulane's interest to give him a better leverage in contract negotiations? When GSU took a step back without rushing into a deal, was Hunter forced to take the Tulane job to save his face?

It's hard to believe that Cobb ran off two coaches who were in the NCAA Tournament this year.
