Jacob Evans
If Jacob Evans is on this team...how many more games do we win, what seed could we have and would we still be playing?
Thoughts?
Maybe it wouldn't matter.

Probably a 4 seed and still playing. He would helped our defense on the wing and provided depth. But Fredericks was a juco all american.

So was Patterson. But I don't see similar results.

2 or 3 seed. We would've beat Montana last night.

Yep, there was a player on their team at Motlow last year who was one of the starting DBs on the high school team I worked with over the past few years...kid told me that i should hope he didnt commit when he got an offer, and now I know why. Waste of a scholly at this point.

Jacob Evans
I think Evans' value would have been huge this year. IMO, the biggest lots from last year was on court leadership... kind of a coach on the court. JC is not that type of leader and sometimes pouts when he's getting bumped or not getting calls. He needed an older guy that's had "been there" to get in his face and refocus him.
Plus Jacob would have taken a great amount of attention off of JC offensively which would have made both of them, and Brooks/Scott more effective.
IMO, we won 2 or 3 more regular season games including the regular season title and we get a 4 or 5 seed.
As much as I blame Mick for yesterday's loss, no way he or any of us foresaw having to replace 2 NBA players and an additional pro in one year. I can't remember the last time UC had to replace that kind of talent in one year

Not giving him a pass on the two seniors...
...he knew they were done and had to be replaced.
Maybe a little pass on Jacob leaving 1 year early but...
he knew there was a chance he could leave early.
We were talking about it early last year. We knew it was possible if not likely.
Mick should've been looking for a grad transfer to fill that spot as soon as it looked like Jacob was good to go.

Agreed he knew he had to replace Clark and Washington but no way he thought at the beginning of the year they'd both be playing pro ball. IMO, Brooks FINISHED the year at least on Washington's level if not a touch ahead. He wasn't as consistent through the whole year though. And JC was roughly as good as JE3. I expected a drop from Clark to whomever this year but I also hoped (incorrectly) that Evans would be back this year to fill Clark's leader on the floor role

Warriors' Jacob Evans: Well-rounded line in Tuesday's win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Evans recorded 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), five rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two blocks in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 112-103 win over the Pelicans.
Evans finished with career highs in scoring, rebounding, steals, blocks, and minutes while matching his best assist total. Assuming the Warriors opt to rest most of their key guys in advance of the playoffs, the 21-year-old rookie will likely draw another start and earn ample minutes during Wednesday's regular season finale versus the Grizzlies."
I just thought we needed to hear some good news about an ex Bearcat to take our minds off the coaching search. (At least it hasn't been a circus - yet.)

Regarding missing him... our 3-pt defense sure would have been a hell of a lot better, had he still been here.

He got some garbage time tonight. Was really good to see him. I guess he’ll play in the summer league this year. Don’t rookies and second year players normally play? We’ll see how his shooting is after a year of practice.

Golden State is starting 2 rookies tonight in the Conference Finals. Neither is, Jacob Evans tho.
One is their 2nd rounder, and the other is an undrafted free agent.
Clearly this year didn't go well for our guy.

He did get in the last 3 min. of the 1st qtr sofar. One of the TV announcers gave him kudos for his D against Portland's big guy.

You get an NBA Championship ring, it's been a very good year. Most guys go their entire career chasing one of those, and would trade all the stats in the world for it.

Eh Clay Thompson is the SG and played close to 35 mins. Livingston is a vet and although is listed as pg mainly plays the sg role. Those two rookies play big man positions and both played like crap. I see this as nothing against Evans.
You have a top player getting his minutes and a vet is always going to get playing time over a rookie in a meaningful game like this unless the rookie shined all year long.

RE: Jacob Evans
Next year Evans needs to take advantage since I assume he’ll get much more playing time with probably a key guy or two leaving. Idk Livingston’s situation but he is starting to get up there in years, although still plays at a high level for a a short period in games.

Edit went to OT Thompson at 46-47 mins.

Main difference: Evans went to the NBA, while Fredericks went to UAB.

Next year is Livingston's last with the team. Could be resigned for the minimum but his age makes that doubtful. Iggy is also up after next season and makes significantly more then Livingston. i would be interested in seeing how big a pay cut Iggy is wiling to go to resign. i think it's likely that neither return. Obviously they are going to max out Klay who is up after this season; and i imagine that KD is leaving.
i agree that next season is huge for Jake. The team has options in years 3 and 4 of his contract. He's cheap and has some versatility as they list him as a SG but i imagine he can also play the SF position so it's not unrealistic that he sticks for the entirety of his contract regardless of his contributions but after that?
