Also, they shot around 50% from 3 which I expected over 40%, but I did not expect us to shoot like dogs a$$. Looking forward to next years team they should be real good (Add along a little rivalry from Memphis and it will be a fun year).

The improvement of Brooks and Scott this year was great.

I expect Keith to play a little more consistent game to game.

If you can't tell Logan is a winner although I expect mistakes early.

I don't see Cumberland leaving so there is two winners.

Looking forward to what Diarra can bring with another summer of putting on weight and getting consistent playing time. He has the natural ability.

Fredericks will be our dog.

Nsoseme prolly will be about what he is now but who knows.

Samari just won Mr. Ohio.

We will be alright!

Thanks to Jennifer and Broome for having a great senior year compared to expectations! Cronin great job coaching. You will need to start pulling a more elite recruits to go on consistent runs.

Exactly, this team was better then it was supposed to be and lived on the edge all year. If you constantly win games by less then 5 point it doesn't take much to swing the game. Unfortunately, several things went bad this game. We had a ref who had it out for Brooks, Iowa hit 50% from 3 and we couldn't hit 3's. Combined that was enough to do us in. This game was pretty much a toss-up and we came out on the losing end, but the season as a whole was excellent.

Next years team should be much better. Brooks and Scott became very good players and can become stars next year. Cumberland should be back. We have an off-season to continue to improve with minimal losses. And we add three players (Curtis, Prince and Hardnett) the two redshirts have the size to sub for Scott and help prevent us needing to play small ball.

We will be a bigger, more athletic team and should be improved offensively as well. We will be a clear favorite to win the conference. Williams will be the key to us being great, need him to improve his 3-point shooting and become a threat off the dribble.

I'm a Cronin supporter but I wish we were signing kids that were too good to use a red shirt on. There are a lot of projects on this roster.

Agree, bolded my last point. If we ever want consistent deep runs a recruiting uptick is a must.

All we're missing now is lleydl to drop by and tell everyone that expectations are too high and everything's swell. Yes it was a fairly good season. And as usual it's over too soon. What's the common piece from season to season? Bad shooters? Who's supposed to recruit them? Bad game plan? Whose fault? Bad 3 PT defense? Cincinnati was #225 in the nation. I'm ready to try something else.

My guess, was something random he was mad about like not enough deflections by Trevor Moore.

I keep seeing people post that we can't part ways with Cronin. What happened at OSU? Matta was pretty successful there. Two down seasons and that was it. I know he had back issues, but the AD specifically stated he was not happy with how recruiting was going. Our recruiting has been trending down for a few years.

It was because Matta was missing out on recruiting trips all together due to his back. Plus last I check OSU didn't go from the greatest bball conference ever assembled to an average conference. If Cronin doesn't get the job done next year or have 2-3 top 100 guys coming in I'll start being on-board that he has peaked.

Because 13 just isn't enough time.

I hope some P5 team convinces Mick to leave and we get to start fresh. We are a joke in March.

I don't buy the conference argument at all.

I will say this. Mick certainly has not earned himseld any collateral. My feeling is the year he misses the tourney we will move on, but dont see UC making the move while we are still making it.

RE: CRONIN
I am numb. Frankly I thought we would lose today.

1. I think the guys choked under the pressure of NCAA tournament losses.

2. I do not know what the deal is with Cumberland. It seems like a good defensive scheme can simply shut him down.

3. We suffer greatly from playing in a lousy conference. We actually need to lose more during the year.

4. If I had a criticism of Mick it is that he confuses athletes with basketball players. We had the best athletes but got beat by the best basketball players. We desperately need a diversified array of outside shooting. Huge kudos to Jennifer for developing his shot over his time at UC. Why the hell Moore ever saw the floor is beyond me.

Hopefully Cumberland comes back and Jamari adds O.

Look at the bright side - we won our bowl game this year.

Virginia losing to Gardner Webb at halftime by 6, these damn systems don't work in March.

RE: CRONIN
I'm not seeing the optimism for next year. We lose Jennifer and Broome. We have 3 players coming in who are unknown quantities and are relying on dramatic improvement from others who have thus far made very limited contributions. I hope I'm wrong and that we are significantly better but I don't see that as a given and that's assuming Cumberland is back and I don't see any reason for him not to be.
Last season was UC's best opportunity at a long run. It didn't happen. UC had basically a home game against a middling big 10 team. They lost. The job this team did in the regular season which was admirable is now sullied with yet another early round exit. Like it or not a teams reputation is made in March and UC's is well deserved given the results in the past couple of decades. I don't see it changing with the current staff.

It's hard for me to pony up the money to see them play at home with Mick as coach. It's just not much fun to watch any of his teams. At some point, you the fans will figure out things like the conference tournament don't mean squat.

Mick's March Madness Excuse Generator

Choose one from list A. and one from list B. and combine to cover each of the past nine NCAA Tournaments:
A.
bad seed line for us
bad match-up for us
bad travel distance for us
bad altitude for us
bad start time for us

B.
offensively challenged today
defensively challenged today
the other team made unbelievable shots
we missed shots we normally make
the one official had it in for UC player x (but you know I can't comment on officiating)

Please feel free to write-in additional selections.
--------------

Seriously folks, we have this thread most every year at this time and nothing changes come March. We're still filling open scholarships with guys who can't shoot and expecting different results. The number of players who are recruited and immediately redshirted is indicative of a talent issue when competing at this level. If a coaching change occurred after this year you can bet there would be major personnel changes in the short run.

And please, let's not compare our consecutive tournament appearances with Gonzaga only to get laughed out of any conversation with serious students of the game who reside outside I-275. That school has been to the national championship game during this same time frame.
