I think Jones knows he’s getting on a warm seat and needs to pick up the recruiting this coming season. I’m starting to hear from regular fans, folks who would never come on here, complaining about the state of revolving door of player's. Plus let me throw in. Everyone I know just hates CUSA.

We need a little bit of everything. But Kalu is fine at center and they need to add another body to replace Carver.

But they are really good at rebounding and defense has been solid. WSharing the ball and guys that can knock down shots is what this team needs more than anything. We dont have players that dish it to big men when they drive into the paint.

This is kind of the point of the whole thing, in my opinion. We need to be better at every single position. Ironically I think our best spot right now is the point guard (ironic because we thought that would be our worst spot this season), but we only have one.

I just find it frustrating that we are weak at every position at this stage in our coach's tenure, as others are expressing as well.

I tried to tell everyone that our PG position would be a strength this year. We have to get a big man. If Jones doesn't land a big man in the summer, next year has to be his last year. There is a possibility, even if it is a very small possibility, that we can bring in an extremely talented player/shooter, but we have to land a big man.

We don't have a big man to dish it to? Kalu is really good and athletic but can't stay on the floor. Even if he could he is a better fit at the #4 position. I would love to see him handle the ball more and shoot from outside. I think a lot of his skills are being wasted because we don't have a big man and he is forced to play the role. Reece is good but can't bang with the big boys! Once again a better fit at #4. We need a dominant big man!!!

Some people get it, some don't. BigBlueBobby gets it.

Kalu is averaging 20 mins per game in conference (more recently, I believe). He's averaging 27 points and 23 rebounds per 100 possessions on 50% shooting. He's hitting 74% of his free throws with 1.5 assists 1.8 steal and 1.6 blocks.

Compare him to other big men:

Kalu: 27/23/1.5/1.8/1.6
Osaghae: 24/16/1.6/1.1/5.6
Muhammed: 19/20/1.2/1.8/1.2
Williams: 31/14/1.4/1.3/2.0
Bennett: 21/13/2.3/2.0/2.9

Is there any other big men in conference to compare to? Trying to think off the top of my head. Kalu's numbers compare very favorable to them.

There are a lot of things about his game that are very good. He is incredible at blowing by guys and getting in the paint. He just needs to work on facilitating for others and his outside shot.

This is a KEY point that is constantly overlooked on this board.

Everyone thinks because we play better in CUSA we are better or are improving.

We aren’t. We are just playing trash programs that make us look slightly better.

He doesn’t get it at all.

He’d try to argue if someone came off the bench in garbage time and got a rebound and basket in 30 seconds he’s the next bill Russell lol

Stats matter far more than hypothetical stars from a guy who can’t stay on the court.

I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Green will likely be an All-Conference player. Wade (assuming he comes back healthy) will be an All-Conference player. Curry, Ezikpe, and Oliver will likely be fringe All-Conference players, as well. Reece has shown tremendous upside, but he's still raw. If he can play under control and refine his skills, he could be a very good player.

The difference this season between 15 wins and 25 wins would have been 1-2 players making marginally more progress over the offseason than they already did. We have five players who should make pretty noticeable leaps next year. I'm not putting a ton of stock in Green making a big jump, but he can't regress. If only 4 players make a noticeable jump in progress next year, we'll likely be in the hunt for a Conference Championship.
I never said the core of players we have now will not be good or even great! I said we are lacking a big man to take pressure off of Reece and Ezipke. It is not fair to expect them to have to battle against taller more dominant players. I honestly feel that we are 1 quality big man away from going to the dance next year and making a statement.

Which taller, more dominant players have they gone against?
So, if the players we have are all "good", we don't need a big man, and we have a good coach, why the hell is the team 10-15. There just isn't a lot of reality around here.

Huh? The point was the reason we are losing has nothing to do with taller, more dominant players.
I responded to you as the last in a string of people basically saying that everything that is wrong with the team doesn't exist... And yet they are 10-15.

I've said it before, but I really think the way JJ needs to handle Kalu is to start h and let him play until he fouls out! He is productive when in the game and his fouling is 100% mental. The way JJ is handling it now just isn't working. Let him play (has to be better that benching him when he gets in foul trouble). At the end of the game he fouls out and we maximize his playing time. Maybe it will be embarrassing to him in front of so many people and he starts focusing on what he is doing. Certainly can't hurt anything. If he ddn't have this issue, he would be starting and probly be considered for all-conference player.

Last night was obviously a joke but foul trouble hasn't been an issue in conference play for the most part.

From FIU till UTEP he played 20-30 mins per game and never got more than 3 fouls.

ODU does a ok job of doubling the post now with our short guys but that just leaves other people open.

Playing such a weak schedule (158th in the nation) masks our lack of talent. ODU's talent looks great against weak opponents. And the team is young, so why not buy into the hype that next year is the year. Except next year comes and there's another excuse.

Yes, I laugh when I see all these posts about such a great turnaround and great coaching job. I'm also glad we are winning more games now, but it isn't a turnaround. Fact of the matter is we are are no better than we were when we were something like 3-9 OOC. We just started playing in CUSA and we started playing a lot of teams in the 175-350 range.

You laugh? I find that hard to believe.
