I remember when the current senior class were freshman, this forum was a giant “LOL Best Recruiting Class in History!!!” place.

God forbid you told people to pump the brakes, you were called some variation of a ‘Negative Nancy’.

Four years later and all we got us a 66-66 overall record and a 30-42 conference record.

We need to hire a head coach whose son is a great basketball player but not a one and done player. This coach needs to get two assistant coaches that have sons similar to his. This is the way to turn the program around.

I am sure it was tough for him to see so many top recruits fall apart. I now change my get rid of Monty mantra and hope he can keep this momentum going. The end of the year gave me renewed enthusiasm for NIU basketball. Let's hope Monty is fired up too. Maybe he needs to go back to his MSU roots to find that passion again along with the end of season Huskie run. Maybe this year was a turning point. Maybe I am just a hopeful Huskies diehard.

I would be in this camp also based on the last few games, but I just cannot get past that damning article. I just dont see how you keep someone on that has no desire to be here and sees NIU job as a mistake I really feel NIU needs a young charismatic coach who has the energy and desire to turn a program around. Someone who is not going to wallow in self pity and finger pointing, but instead is willing to own a problem they are not responsible for creating.
