If Satt was back and/or Fedora was still there I'd agree. But I'm going to stay humble until I know what the 2019 version of App looks like ... Don't underestimate the "Mack" factor either. The fan base is revitalized. All the Heels have been missing past two years is a QB, as the other talent is there. If they find them 1 by week 3 (or 4), it will be a tough game for sure. Really need a lot of App nation to make the game as well.
Unpopular opinion: Mack Brown is overrated. If you guys are at least 90% the team you were last year I think you'll win. Of course, that there is the biggest 'if'.

At the very least now I will for sure be going to the SMU game.
It's so nice that we finally have some drivable away games.

I wouldn't call Mack "overrated." Go back and look at those Carolina teams he Coached before he went to Texas. For a few years there, he made that "Basketball" school a Football power. The man also has a NC.
Now, he's been out of Coaching for a few years, and this Carolina team is certainly Not made up of "his guys," and it may take him a few seasons to get them back where he wants them to be.
That said, IF you're going to take him, this would be the year.

I wasn't impressed by him when we played Clemson this year.
Then Dabo got his head out of his ass and unleashed Trevor Lawrence.
So take from that what you will.

Mack Brown is old as dirt. Not sure he will even be around in a couple seasons.

If I had to guess, I'd say Mack Brown will be at UNC for 2 or 3 years tops. I think he's there to "right the ship" and straighten some things out while they get ready for the next regime. I really don't know what to expect from that game. Some App fans seem over confident. UNC was better than their record suggests last year and both teams have coaching transitions to account for so it is going to be interesting.

You have to also take into account that Drink and Roof coached at State for the last 3? yrs, they know the Carolina team, both strengths and weaknesses and that should give us a huge advantage. Said it before we potentially have a top 25, maybe top 20 team returning, and from what I saw last yr watching the Heels, I didn’t see a top 50 team, I think overall our team talent is better than the Heels, just my opinion.

I'd have to say SMU for us. It will tell us so much about what/who we are at this point. A gutted coaching staff, a head coach distracted (rightfully) by his wife's battle with cancer, key positions with unknown performers all ad up to the possibility for a very bad season for the Red Wolves. I wish I could believe we will weather the storm and win another conference championship but my head tells me not to be surprised with .500 season at best.

We can't forget that this is a road game for App. If we can get 15K or more into their stadium I think it would help the odds immensely!

App fans have been dreaming of this matchup forever, they will buy every ticket available, I would be really surprised with anything less than 15,000, hoping for 20,000 plus.

RE: Off Season Discussion #1-Everyone's Most Intriguing OOC Games
Mac Brown has the gift of gab ... he's a smooth talker and knows how to recruit. Posters are right when they say he's just around for a few years to right the ship. He'll get rid of any discipline problems and out compete the other ACC schools in the state in recruiting. The key to Mac's success will be the assissants he puts around him. I know Bateman is a pretty good DC, not sure about the others. Everyone should know who Mac's successor is in a few years.
And don't think just because our coached have competed against a team for a few years that they "know the strengths and weakness". The personal changes every single year, and there will be a whole new coaching scheme and philosophy. Don't the think the experience vs the old staff is going to help much.
I do agree that App should be pushing 10-15 thousand fans there. Hope that's a huge advantage for us.
