How about the guy from Appalachian State? Do you think he's ready to move up to FBS?

He’s only making $425k a year so that seems like an easy poach unless they bump his pay dramatically.

That said, JMU is in a far better position for him to leap to a P5 job. Virtually every G5 coaching role is an audition for a P5 position. Typically coaches with options are gonna want to go to places where they can build a quick, strong resume.

But, money talks.

Congrats Charlotte fans. First step of rebuild was ripping off the band aid and you didn’t wait until the season ended.

Edit: Will Pete be able to keep everyone from entering the transfer portal or do y’all anticipate a bunch of players leaving now?

Hard to say but I do know that if Mike Hill tries to hire anything less than a proven coach (outside of Alex Atkins) he will be ran out of town.

Don’t be surprised if you see Scott Satterfield’s name thrown out as soon as he is fired from Louisville.

I just do not see that happening. Will eat crow if so but I just see you setting yourself up for disappointment if you think you’re going to land a P5 coach, even a hypothetically fired one.

By contrast, here’s who the Charlotte Observer has as early candidates:

“Early candidates to become the program’s third head coach include Charlotte native and current Houston Texans offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton, former Carolina Panther and current Campbell head coach Mike Minter, former Independence star and current Alabama tight ends coach Joe Cox, and Miami’s offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, who was a candidate for the position prior to Healy’s hire in December 2018.“

I’m not expecting any P5 coaches, I just know if SS is fired it’s a possibility based on relationships.

Well, if an App man can't win there no one can.

Pep Hamilton would be my choice

This would be a win-win. The Texans offense has been underwhelming to say the least.

And this Saturday, the visitor for Rice homecoming. Might not be the easy “W” Rice fans thought.

Wish the 49ers the best of luck in their coaching search, and otherwise I have nothing but nice things to say about 49ers football.

When and what was the turning point with Healy? I remember him getting off to a really good start in Charlotte and it looked like there were brighter days ahead. Was there anything that stuck out that ultimately led him to not winning games?

RE: 49ers Football
- 2-12 in his last 14 games. Pretty big issue there.

- The fact that last season we started 4-2 and only had an OT win over Rice for the entire second half of the season.

- Current and former players and parents taking to social media to complain about the way Healy was handling things on field and in the football center.

- Only 1 decent recruiting class and his best season was with Lambert's recruits.

- Downward progression for 4 years and I do count the COVID year.

The big one was the first item. Anyone that looked at our schedule and thought we'd have a good year was fooling themselves, but the multi-score loss to W&M was my personal back breaker.

Wow. I didn't realize things had been so bad since the last half of last season. It's certainly no fun to go through. Once the players lose confidence in the staff, it's pretty much over. Good luck with the coaching search and getting a good fit for your football program.
