About what the Memphis president and AD had previously leaked. No GOR, and it looks like CBS Sports will continue to get a small piece of the games.

RE: AAC TV contract done
with this AAC teams will be taking home about 8-10 million for total distro's. Not P5 money, but still really good compared to what they had been getting or would have gotten were it not for the warchest.

I was really hoping they'd get 8+ and a deal that would guarantee them an OTA game of the week.

This is more of a "normal" ESPN screw job instead of the "screw job of the century" that we got last time.

Conference composition clause protects ESPN if any of the top brands leave.

Will be $85M-87M per year after the CBS money.

Great deal for the AAC. Cemented them as a tweener conference.

This is great for the conference.

It won't help UC, UConn, or USF's athletic budgets, but 9 members of the conference get significant raises. Hopefully they invest it in upgrades so they can beat some more teams out of conference and make the P6 label actually mean something.

It’s great for the former C-USA and MAC schools but not so much for UConn, Cincinnati and South Florida.

$8 million a year is great for a G5 conference regardless. Congrats to the AAC.

Is UCONN getting any more money anywhere else?

Quote:the majority of basketball games and a significant number of the football games will go to ESPN+. Other live sports including baseball, softball and soccer also will air on ESPN+

Does this mean that if you have an ESPN+ subscription (along with OTA and ESPN channels) that you have access to all football and men's hoops games? That's great for diehards of an AAC team.

Some good articles
https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Dail...9/AAC.aspx

https://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal...ealignment

https://www.courant.com/sports/college/h...story.html

Reading the article, does make it sound like ESPN wants the AAC to help drive viewers to ESPN+ with some football and basketball games. 7 Million a year surely beats the two million they were making. I have to admit I was a little surprised at 12 years. Hopefully the AAC fans are happy. Looks like SBC, CUSA, MW and MAC will be many years behind the AAC in money.

If the AAC had the wisdom to sign a GOR, it could have easily doubled. Probably missed out on getting an AAC network off the ground too. A lot of money left on the table IMHO.

It does make us the clear #6 conference. But in the latter years of the contract it’s not going to seem like much.

Only way the top schools would sign on would be if the GOR ended in 2024-25. And lets be honest, is a GOR that ends in 6 years really worth anything with all the potential movement at that time?
