RE: NCAA tournament.....
I wonder how much the "offensive freedom" rules have hurt mid majors? UNCW used to play "football" on th court. We roughed some teams up on defense. You can't tough anyone now. Advantage P5 schools.

Yep, I thought the Huskies could do it but had a bad match up for them.

At the same time though, the one and done crap started to be more prevalent. This IMO, favors the mids. They get the next level guys that stay and play together for 4 years.

More prevalent, by default I guess. However, it's only a handful of P5 schools that are really using, abusing, and benefiting from the "One and Done". It's really only the blue bloods for the most part. I don't see any advantage stemming from it down to the mid majors.

RE: NCAA tournament.....
Taking away physical play has hurt mids. Majors always have had the athletic players, mids always had more bruising players who were not quite athletic enough for the big time teams, or not quite tall enough. Taking that away took away one of the few viable strategies to beat the majors.

sure only a handful abuse it, but P5s everywhere are hurt by kids that don't stay 4 years. IMO that has played a huge roll in some of the parity we have seen over the last 20 years.

What about the mid major tranfers to the P5?

That hurts Mids for sure, moreso than p5s. Our recent one set us back at least 2 years!. It seems everyone is shooting holes through my reasoning. clearly, there has been more parity the last 20 years with mids making deep runs on several occasions and 12-5 and 13 upsets happening yearly.
If not the reasons i provided, that are yalls thoughts?

RE: NCAA tournament.....
The NCAA can stop the 1 and done's at any point. They need to enforce graduation rates and have them appropriately effect their APR rating and teams would be forced not to go after them frequently because it would then make them ineligible for other years. Going pro should not be a reason to not count against a schools APR.

RE: NCAA tournament.....
Let me re-phrase slightly, I think they do count, but the NCAA needs to actually enforce it and a postseason ban needs to be level 2 infraction as opposed to not even a recourse for failing academics.

All the recent sports reporting indications are that they're going to revert to allowing high school grads direct to NBA.

Sure, but for all of this complaining this fix has been there the entire time, if they wanted it. Enforce academics and the behavior will change.

What lesson can Virginia take from this at this point? Don't end up a 1-seed? lol.

RE: NCAA tournament.....
You knew UVA would have more pressure on this first game than any other team in the tournament. If they get through this game I think they settle back into UVA.
Irvine giving K-State all kinds of trouble.

Yeah. Looks like UCI might finish them off. Good for them. Love a good mid major upset.

Still plenty of time for UVA to get their heads out of their arse.
